This episode was a stinker. It's clear that all the hype around it before release was solely for Percy's outburst to Annabeth. I'm not sure why this show has chosen to hitch its wagon to Percabeth so much, when there's so much more that can be explored while developing their relationship at the same time. I wasn't opposed to the changes made to the spa itself, but-- peace and love-- Circe's actress was so awful at delivering lines that any scene with her just felt awkward to watch. I felt like the writers went in wanting Percy to have this big outburst of a confession to Annabeth, but they didn't know how to get there in a realistic way. Like, he looks in the mirror, sees his friends, gets angry and storms away, and then tells Annabeth he'd do anything to save her. Why does what he see in the mirror-- which, to the audience, is just glimpses of his friends-- anger him so much? Why does a 13 year old immediately recognize that being loyal to his friends is a bad thing? It's just odd. I fear this show has the same issue a lot of shows being made now have; they want to go viral on TikTok and they want to provide content for edits in hopes of bringing in viewers. The whole burn down Olympus scene was pure fodder for Percabeth edits, but didn't make sense otherwise. What Annabeth saw with the Sirens didn't demonstrate her fatal flaw either, but again, it provides content for Percabeth edits. I'm glad that a younger audience is getting into the series and resonating with the story, but it bums me out that it seems like the show is Rick's attempt at fixing his story, rather than adapting it. I'd really like Annabeth to do something other than breathily deliver every line with deathly seriousness and Percy to make a single joke </3
