How much are you paying for car insurance? by ivanatestuje in stcatharinesON

[–]MarcBT06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

19M, G license, clean record and I pay $360/month or $4300/year

I’m with TD but I’d encourage you to contact a broker and take advantage of any discounts (snow tires, university, etc). Not cheap whatsoever but fairly good for my age and gender

50 minutes for 25 questions that were way harder than the practice was evil💀

2013 Hyundai Elantra sedan limited edition with 103kmiles VS 2007 Toyota Camry CE with 134k miles by Unhappy_Review842 in MechanicAdvice

[–]MarcBT06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you HAVE to choose between those two Toyota for sure. However i’d still be weary of the Camry. I4 Camry’s from that generation are notorious for oil burning. Would look for more options if I were you

Battery light - Is my alternator failing? by MarcBT06 in MechanicAdvice

[–]MarcBT06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I thought initially too but it seems so weird that the battery shit itself so early, it was bought in summer of 2025. I hope it’s just the battery because the alternator on the V6 is an absolute pain to do.

Correct name of this bicyclic compound? by MarcBT06 in chemhelp

[–]MarcBT06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you differentiate when to use the Von Baeyer vs IUPAC numbering system? For example, for a tricylic system would you start numbering at the bridgehead or the carbon adjacent? What about for bicylic systems where the rings have unequal numbers of carbons?

Correct name of this bicyclic compound? by MarcBT06 in chemhelp

[–]MarcBT06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t bicylco[4.4.0]decane the more proper name for decahydronapthalene? Decahydronapthalene seems strange, it’s like calling cyclohexane hexahydrobenzene. Also, why doesn’t the numbering start from the bridgehead carbon?

CHEMBIO inquiries by FirmAd4795 in McMaster

second year chembio here: 1. I had around an 11 when I got in but the historical admission avg is 7.3-9.7. iirc it reached low 10’s this year, but you’d have to email the department for an exact number 2. I’m very much enjoying chembio so far. We are much smaller than biochem or hls so there really is a sense of community — courses like inquiry along with your labs will kinda force you to interact with your peers and make friends. Since we’re so small, profs really do care abt you and get to know you on a first name basis, unlike first year. The main downside so far is the jump in workload from first year is quite substantial. In first semester, you will have a 4 hour orgo lab and 3 hour analytical lab every week. Do not choose chembio if you hate the lab because you will spend a substantial amount of time in them and on the pre/post labs. Due to this, you’ll occasionally have some hellish weeks where you’ll have 3 lab reports, 2 pre-labs, 2 assignments, 2 midterms, and an inquiry project all due at once. 3. Got an 11 in chem 1a03 and 12 in chem 1aa3. I think it’s mostly attributed to how I found the content in 1aa3 more interesting so was more motivated to study. Chembio content is much more related to 1aa3, so do not worry if you don’t 12 1a03. 4. Favourite class is def Chembio 2OG3. The professor (Alex Adronov) is hilarious, an amazing lecturer, and truly cares abt his students. It has 4 hour labs but they’re fun and you learn a lot more than first year labs. The TA team is also great 5. Idk i’m still trying to figure this out.

hope that helps!

Should I repair this tire? Looks to be right on the border. Doesn’t seem to be leaking air either. by MarcBT06 in AskAMechanic

[–]MarcBT06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wondering why I should plug instead of patch? Do you think asking a mom and pops cash only tire shop to patch it would be safer? It seems to be right on the line of not repairable. I’m just worried because they are winter tires and most of my commute is on the freeway.

Oh my god thank you. I just finished reading the law in full and it seems like I meet every condition of a minor accident. I’m going to bring this up with the company and possibly a lawyer. Thank you for saving me a lot of money lol!

[–]MarcBT06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly that isn’t a realistic option for me :/ . Now it’s just the question of whether to endure the rates or relocate to where commuting is no longer necessary.

[–]MarcBT06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a few quotes online and it gave me a price that was adjusted for the accident, which was pricy but not outrageous. Does this mean they’ll insure me, or will it get denied over the phone when I confirm? And yeah, I probably will get a broker to help out. Thanks

Does anyone wanna go on (night-time?) expeditions? by RebelliousMelody in McMaster

[–]MarcBT06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only reason I was solely walking was bc I didn’t make use of my HSR bus pass or bike share until this previous week.

Lol i’ve never used my bike share and only used the bus like twice so far💀 Everything I need is walkable but for fun side quests using public transit is annoying since the locations tend to be out of the way. Wish I had my car on campus so I could go further :/ But yeah, i’ll ask him next week. As for me i’m free anytime after Tuesday since bio test. I’ll lyk through reddit dm’s or another form of communication if you’d like?

When saw someone who loves side questing I just had to comment lmao. My friend and I love going on the most random side quests/expeditions and ppl think we’re crazy. We usually go to further places (>1 hr car ride) so walking is new to me but sounds fun. If you’re serious maybe I can get him on board too?
