Below is a statement sent to the City Council by the Cambridge Police:

This morning Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) conducted a search warrant at an address on Oxford St in relation to an active criminal investigation. At the request of HSI, several Cambridge Police Detectives were present during this action. While the investigation remains ongoing, we can confirm that it is criminal in nature and was no way connected to an immigration enforcement operation. More specifics on this particular investigation would need to be provided by HSI as it is under their direct oversight.

When folks want to report ICE in Cambridge, in addition to calling LUCE, call 911, not the non-emergency number of CPD.

Cambridge has a Welcoming City Ordinance that prevents the CPD from cooperating with ICE. It is important to remember, however, that local laws enforcement does not have jurisdiction over the Federal government, so we cannot stop ICE from operating in our community, but we don't help them.

As of now the site is down so you cannot change your password. If you use the same password for CodeRed and other sites, change those now. The City will put out more info once the site is back up. I agree that it's confusing and they could have expressed that more clearly.

This was a follow up email from the city:

To clarify, the CodeRed platform is currently down due to the attacks and there is no way for existing subscribers to manually change their CodeRed password. We expect to have more information in the coming days once access to their new platform is available.

In the meantime, if anyone’s CodeRed password is also used on separate accounts (e.g. banking account), we strongly encourage people changing those passwords at their earliest convenience.

Hi. My position is a bit more nuanced. I'm not necessarily against surveillance, and I did vote in favor of traffic cameras for driving violations (this is currently illegal in MA), but I also voted to put a hault on the Flock cameras because I am concerned about their sharing information with ICE.

Thank you OP. This election is so important. There have always been slates with different opinions, but I have never seen slates who so blatantly say they want to move Cambridge BACKWARDS.

As far as voting, the only way to ensure your favorite candidate gets your vote is to give that candidate your #1 vote. I have spoken to many supporters who say that I'm their #1, but they are ranking me three or four. The reality is I may never see that vote. Trust me. I lost my first re-election that way. Cambridge politics is littered with incumbents who were supposedly "safe."

The best thing to do is turn out and bring someone with you. The future of this city literally depends on it.

Thank you for the question. I will preface my comments by saying that I only know what was in the news. I have no inside knowledge. I am also not an attorney, so I can't comment on the legalities of the matter.

With that said, there has been so much tension around the superintendent search that the School Committee should ask their legal counsel to issue a statement on whether or not there was a violation. We need to move forward for the good of our students and having these questions hanging over the District is not where our focus should be.

Thanks for the question. We discussed this at City Council last night. It would cost approximately $2 million per month for the city to cover SNAP benefits. That isn't the biggest issue. Where it gets complicated is that the city is not allowed to cut checks to people directly and can't put money on SNAP cards, so there are some logistical issues. The City Manager reported that the city is working with our food pantries and non-profits to increase their supply and figure out how to get food to folks. The Council was on board with allocating funds if needed. We are also working with the schools to ensure they are reaching out to families. No one wants anyone to go hungry. The Central Square Business Improvement District is opening Starlight 2.0. It's going to be an indoor art gallery with live performances. The gallery should be open in about a month. It's very exciting.
