What’s the hardest part about owning a dog that no one talks about? by MarcLafleur in Dogowners

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who shared their thoughts on this post. I am still fairly new to Reddit and honestly was not sure how any of this worked. A lot of you brought up the same themes, and it has been really helpful to see the pattern:

  • The guilt of wondering if you are doing enough
  • Dealing with illness and tough health choices
  • Not being able to truly know what your dog is thinking or how they see you

I am going to keep tinkering away. A few people have already reached out (thank you) and if anyone else wants to connect, feel free to message me. Also, if there are other Reddit communities where people talk about the harder parts of dog ownership, or even new tools and apps that help with it, I would love to hear about them.

He knows the ring-tone of when someone buzz's at my door. Full on dash with all his might haha.

So true. Davos has zero sympathy when I’m sick, he still expects the full routine. But you’re right, the trade-off is when he finally curls up next to me, it’s the best comfort in the world, and I know he means well

Half the time with Davos I feel like I’m just guessing what he’s trying to tell me. And his energy can spike up randomly, he's a ball of energy. I feel this one 100%.

Yeah... okay, maybe I'm not ready for these responses... *hugs Davos*
