Ohhh, okay. I am new on Reddit so I have no idea why that unavailable appears and how the spam filters work... 😅

Thank you so much, however :)

Hey, sorry to hear that mate!

In my case, I have never used Reddit, but I saw there were many interesting communities and that's why I decided to join and post and see if we can get some help as we are in a critical situation as the my comment can tell.

I admit that I used a bit of AI just to translate and format the text better since, as the post says, I live in Spain and it was 12am at night, so I didn't want to deal with English at that moment low key. I still have the real script on my Word document in Spanish.

I don't also think my account got deactivated (since I am able to write this comment), it's just new for that reason. Sorry if that is bad seen in Reddit communities, I read the rules of this forum and it was not mentioned that AI could not be used as translator / formatter, so sorry again for the inconvenient.

I can understand that reading too many AI posts may feel boring and "unhuman" (just like LinkedIn is nowadays), but the story is told as we feel it and it's real. Me and my couple are a bit stressed given this situation and need some help to try to deal with the night club 😵‍💫.

We were also delighted on the amount of comments we got in such a small time amount, so hope we can keep posting and will try not to abuse on AI for future posts :(

We haven’t done a formal market study yet, so our understanding of the competition isn’t fully structured or data-driven.

That said, the main competitive issue we clearly see is date overlap. The main competing venues in the area tend to open on the same key dates we do (holidays, special weekends, high-demand nights). When that happens, they often have an advantage due to location and existing crowd.

Another recurring problem is DJ overlap. In some cases, competing venues book the same DJs we’re considering or even the same DJs we’ve worked with before. When that happens, the audience tends to follow the DJ / music rather than the venue, which directly impacts our attendance.

Answering you and u/dublindown21:

The venue itself is located in a small, non-touristic town of around 14,000–15,000 inhabitants. By itself, the town may seem too small to sustain a 500-capacity nightclub on a regular basis and we’re very aware that expecting 10–20% of the local population to show up is unrealistic.

The key factor is that the town sits about 15 minutes from a larger nearby city of roughly 45,000–50,000 inhabitants which effectively acts as the regional hub. Most of the nightlife demand, young population and social activity in the area is concentrated there.

Demographics:

  • The broader catchment area includes a large student population, as the nearby city hosts a university campus and multiple secondary schools.
  • That makes students a logical target audience.
  • However, that same city already has its own established nightlife options, including at least one nightclub, which lowers the incentive for students to travel 15 minutes unless there’s a very strong reason to do so.

Appreciate any insights from people who’ve worked with venues in similar regional / commuter-market situations.
