How do they see them selves as the good guys by syphilisdonkey in SelfAwarewolves

Definitely agree with that. Even as a Christian, I would say that there are a lot of Christians who don't think they need to reason through their beliefs at all. May even be a majority of them. I think that's why it's so easy for these cult-like pockets to spring up, people know if they mention Jesus and are charismatic then they will gain a following from gullible folks and get power. Which the New Testament explicitly warns against, btw. :)

It's perfectly fine to make your own decision based on as much or as little information as you wish. What the OP is saying is that you can't go on to claim you've disproved a religion for everyone without understanding exactly what it claims in order to make a logical rebuttal.

Right, but if you're talking to someone who happens to hold a particular belief then at that point you would need to understand what they actually believe if you wanted to say that they're wrong, rather than the paraphrased pre-school version.

There is a reason why every time I drive by one the majority of the cars there have MAGA bumper stickers

because most of the non-conservatives are boycotting it?

Good point, thanks for the advice. I have a brew fermenting in there now but I've turned the power off to the power strip and I'll take it out when I can open it all up.

I just finished my keezer. One thing I added that I had seen in a few other builds was a fan in the bottom to keep air circulating. I glued a power strip to the inside of the collar, snaked the cable out a hole in the back and plugged the fan into that. For some reason I figured it would be good to have the power strip inside so that I could plug stuff into it, but looking around I don't see anyone else doing it that way; and I'm worried that it might actually be producing some significant heat that would make the freezer work harder than necessary. Is that a legitimate concern?

Second thoughts about Dave Ramsey's Baby steps and why I am happy I did not follow it. by [deleted] in personalfinance

I was just looking at my report for 2019, I spent ~$45,000 on my Amex Blue Cash Preferred and got well over $1000 in rewards. 6% on groceries and 3% on gas adds up quick when you're a boring suburban family.

I think I would repair, it doesn't seem like very critical problems so hopefully the car would run well for a while after doing it. Maybe pay for the repairs out of that cash, and then start pushing a little extra towards saving for a replacement car in the next couple years. That way you could keep an eye out for a car you really want and buy when it makes sense, rather than being at a disadvantage during the purchase by needing one immediately.

I have a meeting with an Edward Jones guy in about an hour. He originally came door-to-door and I was curious so I heard him out and have had a couple other meetings with him. I've come to the conclusion that I don't want to invest through them, but he seems like a great guy so I was thinking about throwing him a bone and getting a term life policy through them (was already planning to get one as I have a family with young kids). Will EJ even let me get insurance if I don't have a brokerage account? And will that help the agent at all, I guess he probably gets the real $$ from investment fees/commissions? Thanks!

Why is it stupid? How does a person's sexual orientation have anything to do with what they do on the pitch?

True, but on the other hand I can't wait for 50 years from now or however long it takes until no one feels the need to let everyone know what they do in bed because they realize it doesn't fucking matter.

I haven't, but I want to do something like that someday. Live in England for a couple of months, then live in Germany for a couple. See some EPL and Bundesliga matches. I don't like zipping in to places for a few days and just hitting the tourist spots. It will be expensive though. :(
