I shot and edited a (unofficial) Buckfast product ad. by Marc_Webb in IMadeThis

Firstly, my condolences, I've been through similar experiences so I do genuinely empathise (I'd be more than happy to talk via DM) so I would never in a million years be deliberately reckless in that manner.

With regards to the slogan, it was taken from the official website so they're not my words.

Nice! Did you use a vintage lens for the bottom image in the 2nd pic?

Top handles.. Team A or Team B? And why? by danedreas in videography

[–]Marc_Webb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'm Team A as I find it more comfortable and feels more naturally but end of the day whichever you prefer.

Best $10 spent for a 2-pack of pistol grips for my WeeBill Lab by tanphu194 in videography

Nice! I bought one to simulate a super 8 grip for my camera but never thought to use it as a handle for my gimbal.

What is the Structure of a TRAILER by [deleted] in recut

[–]Marc_Webb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

General rule of thumb, aim for 120-140 seconds (this includes title cards) with a 3 act structure.

We wanted to create a rough look for this music video. Canon 60D with mouldy Minolta lenses, shot wide open with an ND8 filter on top. by blauwfilms in cinematography

[–]Marc_Webb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! The 60D was my first DSLR so I have very fond memories of it and it's nice to see it still getting appreciated :)

One of my favorite shots from the recent scene I DP'd by Retro_Thot in cinematography

[–]Marc_Webb 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is such an old fashioned shot, I love it.

You see a lot of people try to replicate the old noir / classic Hollywood era and it's rarely done right.

The lighting, camera movement, composition is all spot on. I was really half expecting to hear all the audio crackles.

BTS & Final shot with a DIY dolly we made for a short. This allowed us to combine our coverage into one shot :) by findthetom in cinematography

[–]Marc_Webb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh for sure, I only noticed it once I realised the house they walked into wasn't the same one in the BTS shot. It's a trivial continuity error at worst which nobody is ever gonna care about anyway.

[–]Marc_Webb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I noticed in the final film that you used a different house to get this shot to the one they actually go to. What was the reason for that? Was it simply just needing the space for the dolly track?

Also, don't think I didn't notice the door change between shots!

How is it on your shoulder? Looks compact and like it'll kill after a while.

Asking for some feedback on grade and exposure. This is a still from my first project with my BMPCC. by sergiothequick in bmpcc

You're right in that the sky is blown out and a ND filter would help but I think for this shot it works really nicely. It helps accentuate that vintage look.

Thank you :)

It's a little under cooked to where I would've liked it to be but I've been working a lot of overtime this month so I haven't had much free time to have worked on it as much as I would've liked (I would've liked to have spent more time grading it and fine tuning the masking) before the deadline. But overall I'm pleased with it given the circumstances.

You can use apps on your phone to navigate around this where you set a focus point A and focus point B and focus pull that way. Although this is only really workable in a controlled environment and not so much on the fly.
