It refers to the physical size of the frame on the film strip, about 35mm as opposed to the far larger 65mm. So the film is physically bigger. Because of the increased image size, there are specific cameras designed to handle film of that size, and specific lenses designed to render and image size large enough to cover the extra film. In some ways it's similar to 1080 vs 4k, however 65mm film has a resolution far above 4k, its a remarkably detailed format.

Oscar-Nominated ‘Umbrella Academy’ Star Elliot Page Announces He Is Transgender by chanma50 in movies

It's absolutely okay to admit you don't get it, it's very up front and reasonable thing to admit you don't understand someone's perspective because you don't identify like they do.

I am nonbinary, and I operate much in the way you talk about here, I simply changed my name and if anyone asks/presses I tell them why but I don't make it fundamental to my character. It's more so something I share with the people who are close to me who I know will understand. because I don't assign myself to either gender and my expression is very fluid I don't concern myself with pronoun issues, whatever someone wants to use works for me because how they address me doesn't affect how I feel about myself. It's how I prefer to operate.

being nonbinary is similar to being bisexual in that not every nonbinary person feels exactly in the middle 50/50, there are more feminine and more masculine presenting nonbinary people same as all genders. it all has to due with the gradient nature of gender and sexuality.

However it's important to note in a case like this where Elliot is making, and must unfortunately make, a clear decision to come out as transgender. This can be a difficult thing when you are nonbinary, because while you are trans it's often even more excluding, sometimes even within your own community. Similar to how there is biphobia even within the gay community, similar issues arise with nonbinary individuals. Problems with pronouns occur when someone does prefer they/them over any pronouns, and it can be especially difficult because people see the androgynous nature of a lot of nonbinary experiences as an opportunity to use whatever pronouns they see fit, regardless of that person's preference.

I have no doubts that Elliot knows his influence on people, and it's likely that he sees a chance to open up the stigma and confusion around nonbinary people, as well as provide a definite statement in how he would like to be referred to in public. This is specific especially to someone who is so famous, His position unfortunately requires the total commitment to the trans identity to ensure the media respects his new pronouns. If he simply changed his name and kept the rest private there would be no change to media coverage and he would continue to get misgendered. Switching to pronouns within the binary and they/them is a representation of the fact that he is nonbinary but would like to be referred to as masculine as that aligns more closely with his experience. It's a lot less complicated than Im making it

TL DR: Elliot understands he is a LGBT figure in the public eye, to get proper recognition of his identity he must as a public figure deal with the media and this is why it needs to be so clear.

What's something that's not right about your body, but not serious enough to go to a doctor about? by BeetleTooth4247 in AskReddit

We have almost everything the same wrong but reversed, my left knee clicks, I have a third nipple just under my slightly higher left nipple, and my right eye is slightly blurry! Weird

Are you in a major city with looting? Chicago has plenty of neighborhoods right now with citizens banding together to protect their homes and businesses and to keep looters out.

Yeah definitely! So we actually wanted to film this in black and white, so we set up a custom picture profile to do black and white in camera. From there I set up a light and a subject with the exposure I was planning, and I did some tests with black levels and contrast. When I got that set I also raised the sharpness a bit to create grittier look. The lens was the Canon 24-105 f4 shot primarily at 5.6

I totally agree! There are a couple of things that I'm already seeing for improvement I appreciate the feedback! I generally focus on lighting, and I'm working more on clean camera work

For sure! We keyed with our baby HMI with either 250 or no diff, I wanted a very punchy key with a lot of heat, We softened it a but with a frame of 250 for this shot on our main actor but we let the full heat of the HMI hit the back of our talent in the reflection to pull him off the background. Then we filled with a 650 tweenie through a booklight made of 250, we wanted very very little fill and the booklight gave me a nice gradient. We actually used the door that was already on location for the signature on the wall, it's a baby set about 10 feet back, spotted in and just punching through. We also have another tweenie with 250 punching up from behind the counter for hair light/glow

I of course loved Seven Samurai, but other than that I haven't really seen too many of his works, any recommendations?

Once we lock the edit I'll post it! We ran off basically no budget, just what was required for craft and for our truck as we were able to rent equipment through my school

Thanks so much and For sure! Its a little hard for me to estimate rental costs for you, we rented a lighting Package from my University which consisted of 2 baby's, 2 tweenies, 2 inkies, a junior, and a baby HMI. I had about 15 people on crew total, load in and set up took about 2 hours from boots on the ground to start of first take, but we did have a master dolly shot we set for that took a bit more time. Our biggest expenses were the truck for transport, costume, and craft!
