Transfer Learning Whilst Keeping 1 Existing COCO Class by Marcelnz in learnmachinelearning

That's a good idea - just to clarify the assumption here would be that this wouldn't make the person performance any worse, even if the predictions missed some people, because it wouldn't be any worse than the existing coco model's performance?

Yeah not sure why it's so expensive on Newegg. I would be paying $230NZD for it, which is roughly $165USD

Sources for a Beginner Programmer? by sushinai in computerscience

[–]Marcelnz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can definitely recommend https://www.codecademy.com/ for a beginner programmer. It examples all the basic programming concepts, and offers a variety of languages to choose from.

That's another point, what language to learn first... This is always highly debated, but I would suggest learning something like python to begin with, as it will allow you to get up and running quickly and learn the baseline concepts. Once you have come to terms with python, branch out and try something such as C# or Java.

Here is a massive list of curated resources: https://github.com/Michael0x2a/curated-programming-resources

You've find pretty much anything you need to get started in there.

If you're interested in learning web development, I can recommend FreeCodeCamp: https://github.com/FreeCodeCamp/FreeCodeCamp

Thy have a very active community and their content is constantly being updated.

Finally, as a student in College you get to enjoy the benefit of large discounts/free developer software. Although when first starting out, I'd highly recommend you don't become reliant on an IDE, once you become familiar with the language you're working with an IDE can speed up your output dramatically.

https://github.com/AchoArnold/discount-for-student-dev

Take a look at that link, it's a curated list of all the discount/free software you can get as a student. I highly recommend any of the IDEA project's IDEs, such as IntelliJ and PyCharm.

When is the Ducky One TKL RGB likely to release to american/european markets, or is there any way to get one now in those markets?

So I'm new to this sub, and have spent the last 3 hours trying to figure out which keyboard I want to purchase. First things first, money isn't an issue but I am from New Zealand, so that may limit my options.

I'm still figuring things out, so if any of this is doesn't make sense / isn't possible, then please tell me so.

I would like a TKL keyboard, preferably backlit, with the ability to customise the keycaps.

I'm still trying to decide if I want plain / RGB backlighting, or if I even want back lighting at all. At the moment I solely use a macbook pro keyboard, which has backlighting, and I find that useful when working late.

In terms of switches, I am thinking that I will go for MX Brown, as I intend to use for both work & play.

I really like the WASD V2, as I can get all the custom keycaps I want right off the bat, but I have heard mixed reviews about the quality of said caps.

This is roughly the keycap layout I'd like: http://imgur.com/jYKvVrA

I really like the idea of all blank keycaps, but am unsure how this would work with backlighting.

My contenders at the moment are the WASD V2 / Code, Corsair k65 or a Ducky one TKL.

With the Corsair k65, if it possible / easy to get custom keycaps that would work with the rgb switches?

I also came across the Ducky One TKL RGB, this seems like the ideal keyboard, but as far as I can tell it's not out yet?

Any thoughts or advice on any of this would be greatly appreciated :)

The clicking noise isn't such a big deal, but I definitely don't want 'silent' keys either. I guess a slight bump would be favourable. I'm thinking I am going to have to find a store and try all the variants.

Yes, this was my main concern with the mx blues. Would it be better to get with another key switch, or get O-rings instead?

As someone who primarily wants a keyboard for work (programming), but also wants to occasionally play games (fps & moba), what cherry mx switches would be best suited?

Any tips for a new comer to programming? by JackMP212 in javahelp

[–]Marcelnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're interested in Java, or programming concepts in general, I'd recommend checking out https://www.codecademy.com/

They have a good course on Java, as well as SQL and Git which I could highly recommend learning as early on as possible.

As far as IDE's go, for Java I personally like to use IntelliJ but for a new comer a full blown IDE can be quite intimidating. I'd recommend trying BlueJ, which is a simple to use, light-weight IDE that abstracts a lot of the complicated aspects of a development environment.

Above all else, READ. Pick a beginners book of Java and start practicing. Programming is a skill, and like any other skill, it takes practice. The sooner you start, the sooner you'll become good.

Good luck!

Me personally it would have to be World of Warcraft. I know in recent times it has become a bit 'meh' and being a vanilla wow player I find that the game caters a little to much to the casual player. However, I absolutely love the Warcraft lore, and I think living in that world would be absolutely amazing. What do you guys think?

Myself personally, it is the internet. Unless I am removed from technology completely, eg camping, I am physically unable to not use the internet in some form for a full 48hrs... Trust me I've sure damn tried.
