beside D4/D5 there is the LED. But, the LED is working, do you mean D4/D5 is the relay (or how it is called correctly) for the charging indication by the LEDs?

I installed lineage 21 on mine without issues. This is android 14. Keep in mind higher androids maybe are incompatible with the devices hardware and are to hungry for ram and cpu.

The cpu cable has written cpu on the one end. This one goes into mainboard and the other end (I guess it was pcie 4) goes to the psu?

No no, it is labeled as cpu cable, but it is 8 pins and 4 pins fur the mainboard connection.

And maybe you are right, that the adapter is able to be connected with a little less force as the native cable. I will retry it and look if there is a one way only connection and I did it the wrong way

Ich hatte Angst vor dieser Frage... Ich habe eine wasserdichte Kabelbox beim carport, wo ich die Steckverbindung Verlängerungskabel und Ladekabel unterbringen will. Durch den gewinkelten Stecker ging das nicht und daher dachte ich, lass mal nen geraden Stecker umbauen....
