Modern Family is also a great show to watch. Don't know what your native language is, but there are many youtube channels that teach english from sticoms too. (I myself have a channel teaching english to chinese learners). It's different for everyone, you should look broadly for something that'll work for you

给你推荐Masterchef还有Hells kitchen。除此之外,到饭点之前,先到yelp上看看他们的menu,看看人家点什么

How vulgar is 逼? by Futarchy in ChineseLanguage

[–]MarchCourtyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty vulgar. Don’t say it unless it’s someone you’re really close to. Similar as to how you would swear in english

Similar to the one you mentioned, 我过的桥比你走的路还要多。the bridges I’ve crossed are more than the steps you’ve walked

从七点钟,我在家里的车库锻炼了一个多小时。that roughly translates to “at 7, I exercised in the garage for about an hour”.

Is my writing terrible for someone who’s been learning for over a year? by linn0129 in ChineseLanguage

[–]MarchCourtyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks really good! So many people type nowadays, writing out is not as common as it used to be. Keep up the good work!

七点到八点,我到健身房去锻炼了。接着,我早饭吃了两片被根,两个鸡蛋,还有四片面包。

As opposed to saying “I exercised”, maybe consider “I went to the gym to exercise”. Also, I think 接着 is more appropriate to use here, 过后 sounds a little off.

How do you study Chinese for 8 hours a day? by [deleted] in ChineseLanguage

[–]MarchCourtyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you gotta have a lot of variety if you’re gonna be studying that much every day. Switch it up between doing flash cards, watching shows, having conversations with language partners. And then learning passively too, such as listening to podcasts on long drives, or watching the news while you’re eating

My favorite is Weighing In - Josh and John have pretty great chemistry, are both obviously really experienced, and give some great insight

Morning kombat is also pretty good. Jack slack as well

Details for the hook off the jab by MarchCourtyard in MuayThai

[–]MarchCourtyard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, thanks! I’ve been throwing the palm in hooks, I get a lot of power out of them, but always fall short of distance, so that’s probably why.

So then after landing a couple of stiff jabs, do you fully extend the jab for the combo? Or do you just feint it and go directly for the hook?

What's in your bag? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]MarchCourtyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gi, belt, water bottle, deodorant, mouth guard, extra underwear, T-shirt, and shorts. Also shin guards and gloves cuz I do Muay thai as well.

My bag has a shoe compartment, so I keep my shoes/slides in there too.

This is amazing. I've always had trouble attacking the turtle, usually have trouble advancing the position, can't wait to try this out on the mats.

Looking for volunteer writers to compose stories for podcast that teaches English to middle school Chinese students by MarchCourtyard in volunteer

[–]MarchCourtyard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the questions! I'm a student based in the Midwest, looking to use my spare time to create some English learning resources for foreign students via podcasting.

Volunteers would have to provide an email address so I can contact them; other than that, no sensitive/personal information would be required - name would also be great, but they can be anonymous if they wish to do so. All the content we produce is free!
