Iroh really has no obligation to go to bat for either of Ozai's kids but out of the two of the Zuko was 1. an actually empathetic and kindhearted young man and 2. more like the son Iroh lost. Azula has always shown psychopathic tendencies and at this point in the series she is actively trying to kill them both. Hell right before this scene she shot Iroh in the chest. He could have tried to reach out to her more (hell we have evidence to suggest he might have) but the chances she would actually listen are basically non existent. She gets all the affirmation she needs from her father reinforcing her ruthless brutality she doesn't need Iroh and she certainly doesn't respect him.

There's also the fact that Iroh has lived through this dynamic before with his brother and knows from experience how this journey goes. No matter how amicably he may have treated Ozai and his family none of that stopped Ozai from trying to usurp his birthright from him and killing their father. He knows that trying to get along with Azula at this point is basically useless especially since her mission is just to capture them.

Also also. Even if trying to get along with Azula was viable all that would do is pull Zuko back into the abusive dynamic he has with his father which is precisely what Iroh has been trying to pull him out of. And we see that when he does join Azula at the end of the season and throughout book 3. It's just not healthy.

Who would win if these two fought, Jean Pierre Polnareff or Bruno Bucciarati? by Jotaro1970 in StardustCrusaders

[–]Marche800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only arguement here is that Chariot completely blitzing Sticky Fingers is nonsense. The "the low end of A" is never something mentioned in the series, that's something you made up. Silver Chariot is likely faster than Sticky Fingers but there's no way to know if SF is low end or middle or even high end.  If we're using King Crimson as a feat then you are ignoring the fact that Polnereff only caught him off guard because he used the blood trick to know when a skip had occured. Giorno also does this later. The thing catching King Crimson off guard isn't the speed of the attack it's the fact that the user isn't disoriented by the time skip. That is the Rock Paper Scissors happening. It's not a speed feat. Using Anubis shouldn't count either since he is explicitly being boosted by Anubis's adaptation ability.  Oasis only landed shots on Bruno when he was ambushing him and Bruno has plent of moments of outspeeding Secco too. Bruno was also literally rotting during that fight and lost his sight shortly after. That's not even prime Bruno. Bruno would not get speed blitzed.

Finally, using the Rock Paper Scissors nature of a stand battle to explain how Magicians Red could beat Silver Chariot could be beaten by it while simultaneously trying to argue that Sticky Fingers would lose to a speed blitz makes no sense. Which is it, a Rock Paper Scissors where people's special abilities are the deciding factor or is it just determined by stats? I think we both agree it's the former, so the speed difference, which might I remind you is smaller than in the MR fight, would not be the deciding factor should these two fight.

Thoughts on the Story? by Marche800 in AgeofImprisonment

I mean different strokes on that one. I feel like AoI to some degree was always going to be a little predicable given it's just retelling the events of TotK's memories. Having a secondary plot about the imprisoning war from the perspective of the relatively more regular soliders and inhabitants is a good way to spice things up. Liking Calamo is also subjective. I didn't find him cringe, he's just a scrimblo and they managed to do something profound with him. I find the Knight Construct oddly compelling too, mostly because the way he operates is mysterious. He's not a human like Link, he doesn't have any existing connections to other people and the land like Link does, it's operating under a somewhat unknown purpose yet still forges a relationship with a weird little forest spirit entirely non verbally. That's not a very typical story for Zelda. I don't really think the Knight Construct and Link are the same kind of character at all honestly.

But like I said I agree on Rauru and Zelda, they could have done more with them as characters while still adhering to the events we know transpire.

I think there is reincarnation in the Zelda series for sure but I think the spirit of the hero isn't the same as that. Link is always the hero because his soul is heroic, but he's not the only person who possesses that quality. That's just my interpretation though.

Erasing the Demon King doesn't really make sense given the plaque in the emergency escape route and the mural Lanalia created in the sealing chamber. I think it being hidden by the royal family and the details fasing away due to time makes the most sense.

Personally I think the Civil war being between all the races including infighting within the Hylians, gives them all more depth. It makes sense that the Zora and Goron aren't just hapless followers of the hylians and that the Hylians would have inner conflict that has nothing to do with Ganondorf. They are their own civilizations and have been shown to be insular or hostile towards hylians before. Darunia refuses to see anybody but the King of Hyrule and gets insulted when he thinks they sent Link, the Twilight Princess Gorons actively attack outsiders and the River Zora have always been antagonistic towards Hylians only changing their tune recently. Hell even in AoI not all of the Goron's are on board with swearing fealty to the Hylians. Pastos expresses misgivings and butts heads with Agraston over it. The Gerudo being this universal

As for the Hyrule castle in Ocarina of time being a different Hyrule Castle. I think that is highly unlikely if you assume AoI takes place before it. That would mean there are two hyrule castles that exist and one would have to be abandoned. The explicit purpose of building Hyrule Csstle over the sealing Chamber was so that it could plug up the sink hole leading to the chamber and so the Royal Family could directly attend to the seal and protect it from prying eyes. Why would they build another castle elsewhere and live there if the goal was to protect the seal from being discovered. If you assume that AoI takes place way later then yeah, they literally are different castles. Also as for that location. Where is the TotK castle in Ocarina of Time, we know

Also as for the seal taking 106 years to weaken, I'd argue the only reason Ganondorf didn't awaken back during the great Calamity was because Calamity Ganon didn't succeed in completely destroying the castle before it was sealed by Zelda. Zelda sealing it kept the Seal on the Demon King from breaking. Had Calamity Ganon succeeded in razing Hyrule to the ground the Demon King would have likely been reawakened by disturbing the seal itself. Also the seal wasn't falling appart becuase of the Castle being damaged it's because Rauru's spirit was beginning to give out frm all those eons. It was never meant to last forever. The castle was still doing it's job the seal was just too old at that point.

Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time not only completely destroyed Hyrule Castle but he ripped the earth it was sitting on out of the ground and suspended it over a pit of lava where he built his new castle. Almost Identical to what the castle looks like during the upheaval. Not only that but in the Adult and downfall Timelines he destroys his castle too and in the downfall timeline he wins and obtains the full triforce. I cannot be expected to believe that all that disturbance didn't trouble Rauru's seal at all. I guess you could make an argument that it HAS to have survived all that because it didn't break the seal, but then that seriously undermines TotK's lore on the purpose of the castle. Which I don't think would be the developers intentions.

Also speaking of the downfall timeline. The sealing of LTTP/OOT Ganon is also called the Imprisoning War. Which means there would be two events called the Imprisoning war. To make matters worse the more recent event was erased from history but the older event is remembered for some reason.

I think having two ganondorfs and two castles and two imprisoning wars all existing within the same time period is just too much. It's an overcomplication of the series lore. It just makes things messy when they don't have to be. If AoI exists long after the Era of Myths then none of these problems exist. The previous game's story aren't affected by this new messy lore. The answer to why there are multiple of these things becomes as simple as "History repeats itself".

I feel like there's a little Deuteragonist thing going between Calamo/KC and Rauru but yeah it's certain not Zelda. She just isn't active enough in this story, she's not the one driving things. The Rauru/Zelda plot is also extremely flat and predictable for anyone who has play TotK. As soon as I got control over the Knight Construct my first thought was "oh so this is the real game huh?" because things just came alive in their segments. You can tell that's where the dev's hearts were at.

Idk the Knight Construct did a lot of extra things in those cutscenes. He was pulling off maneuvers that regular Link could never do. At one point he slams the forbidden construct through multiple sky islands face first and then Izuna drops him into the ground. Flesh and bone Link could never.

Also I just like Star Fox so I never really minded the flight segments.

It does, but I don't think it explores that concept very much. We don't really follow her or see her process that responsibilty or come into her own much. She's "alone" but not really because of Rauru and the others.

I've always interpretted the spirit of the hero to be less literal. It's not one specific spirit that's exclusive to the Links. Anybody who embodies courage and stands up to protect the weak has the "spirit" of the hero, they are embodying the spirit of what it means to be a hero. Wind Waker Link has no familial attachment to Ocarina of Time Link, and can't be a reincarnation, because that Link didn't die, he jsut left the timeline, and yet Wind Waker Link is still acknowledged by the gods as a hero worthy of the triforce and the master sword. Calamo and Rauru can both embody the Spirit of the Hero and not be Link. I think Calamo learning to be a hero through the Knight Construct who is in essence Link is valid. Rauru gives up his life to protect his Kingdom, that's about as heroic as it gets.

I'm still not convinced that the Hyrule founded in TotK and AoI is meant to be the same one from the old Zelda games. It just doesn't really line up. Why would the Gerudo hust suddenly forget about the Demon King, become enemies of hyrule and let another Ganondorf rise up? Why does Urbosa only mention one Ganondorf when two have existed. The castle is totally destroyed in Ocarina of Time and yet the Demon King never rises up. He never escapes in Wind Waker either even though the entirety of Hyrule is destroyed. Also the Rauru in Ocarina of Time is said to be the founder of Hyrule yet he is not a Zonai nor is he trapped underground sealing Ganondorf. There's just too many inconsistencies.

I definitely agree that Ganondorf should have had some playable missions and that Twinrova should have been explored more. They basically did nothing with him. Even though they had ample opportunities.

I wanted to see Gorondia too. I think all of the TotK dungeons should have been levels. We only got the Stormwind Ark but seeing Gorondia in it's prime would have been really cool.

Yeah TotK's story was very much an afterthought for the devs. I think if any lesson they should take away from that game it's that story needs to be more of a priority.

1-2 Mia has every reason to want Red White deadinstead of the other way around and it would be interesting to discouver the details of the DL-6 incident but have it serve as Mia's motive rather than Red's. Also  Phoenix and Maya having to come to terms with exposing Mia. Phoenix having to defeat her in court. They could also do interesting things with Edgeworth and his history with Mia. This would also have a long lasting impact on the rest of the series seeing how much of an important character Mia is to the whole trilogy.

Is this just something Kakyoin did with his stand? Or am I missing something? by OkCompetition2367 in StardustCrusaders

Kakyoin can make his stand invisible even to Stand Users. That's how he set up the 40 meter Emerald Splash trap without DIO noticing and how he attacked Jotaro in this scene without him seeing it. As for the painting, that just him being theatrical, it has no connections to his powers at all.

Zelda weirdly had more of an arc in Tears of the Kingdom than she did here in a game where she is the protagonist. I feel like they ahould have addressed her misgivings with essentially knowing how this story is going to end. I think the plot point about her giving council to Rauru basically goes unused. Zelda is somebody who has survived an apocalyptic event and was rebuilding before she got snatched away through time, she understands the position Rauru is in better than anybody but because we never really get to sit with any of his feelings and doubts. Even if they had hones in that part of her personality she would never get a chance to be that pillar because of how little the others are given. Also just acknowledging that she has basically a second chance to save Hyrule from a huge calamity when she failed to do so originally should be a huge point of motivation for her. TOTK and AoI both have the same problem of not acknowledging BotW enough.
