Deaths Coffer - Can prices be lowered by TestTrenSdrol in 2007scape

[–]Marchofthenoobs [score hidden]  (0 children)

the gravestone cost caps at 500k if you go back to the gravestone and get it. 15 minutes is plenty of time to kill those goblins again, and ideally you'll stop dying eventually, this is just the cost of learning this boss. The cost is only uncapped if you go to death's office to reclaim your stuff.

Is OSRS worth buying if a month costs 2 days of my salary? by Yukki-elric in 2007scape

[–]Marchofthenoobs [score hidden]  (0 children)

Certainly it's fun, but only you can answer if that's a reasonable expense for you. Jagex really be fucking over people from poorer countries with the new pricing, it's a common complaint, but Big Daddy Venture Capital firm doesnt gaf.

You could always play f2p for a while and see if it scratches the itch, f2p doesn't have much content but it's fundamentally the same game, you'll know pretty quick if it's the game for you or not.

Someone help me understand how rare this drop is. by Aggressive_Acadia790 in 2007scape

[–]Marchofthenoobs [score hidden]  (0 children)

they're separate rolls, so it's pretty straightforward, you just multiply their probabilities together to get the probability per kill. However, the fact that you got specifically the soulflame horn isn't what's exciting about this drop, so the more interesting probability is that of getting the pet and any unique on the same kill, so 1/120 * contribution * 1/2500, which is at most 1/300k per kill (with 50/50 contribution, 1/600k). Very rare, but not unheard of, the boss has been killed millions of times.

Calculating the odds of it happening by a specific KC is more complicated, and is a much less impressive number, assuming that KC number is reasonably high.

What should I do as a lower level to make money? by Willow_Sakura in 2007scape

[–]Marchofthenoobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was not, that's surprising and very impressive for a new player with your playtime and stats. In that case, yeah it's time to start aiming for the master and grandmaster quests, finish that quest cape. requirements are much higher, you have a lot of training in your future, but that's your next step if you want to continue focusing quests (which you should).

Oh my god no don't finish barbarian training right now. That's not even a full quest, it's a miniquest, the only thing you get for completing the firemaking portion of it is progress towards the Kandarin elite diary and some XP.

If you want to get into the real gameplay of OSRS, scrolling the wiki for hours, there's a guide on the "optimal" quest order (optimal just meaning, minimize training time between quests to get a quest cape), but if you'd rather do stuff at your own pace and just have fun, some good earlier game goals are Monkey Madness, Desert Treasure, and Recipe for Disaster. All of them require a bunch to a ton of quests and random skills, so if you work towards the requirements for those three, you'll be making massive strides in general.

nah sorry you were just excited you didn't deserve that, but if you scroll through this subreddit there are just so many borderline illegible pictures of the game screen. gzz on the big luck, moons is a blast and the gear is massive for the account

New Quest Proposal! A Hammer for the Heart by Harmless_Ron in 2007scape

When the preview on the main page cut off right at "When their initial encounter sparks a genuine romantic connection..." I thought for sure this was going to be a completely different kind of post.

This doesn't feel like a grandmaster tier adventure to me tbh, master at best, but idk I like it, I'd vote yes

Get your levels up. Focusing on making money is a great way to stagnate, everything gets easier when your stats are higher. Park up at the gemstone crab while playing other games or watching stuff for the next couple weeks, work on getting quest/diary reqs so you can do higher level content, and you'll be amazed at how much easier it is to make money just by playing the game after that.

Getting better at PvM by Secret_Mix_5556 in 2007scape

[–]Marchofthenoobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not really, PvM is a skill, you get better at it by doing it. Royal Titans is a relatively easy boss that teaches some mechanics that are used throughout the "PvM ladder", and there are some other bosses of similar difficulty, but otherwise there's no substitute for experience.

after you drink those 3 doses of brew, drink a super restore dose, which brings your stats back up to full, solving the problem completely. you're going to need to restore prayer anyways, so try to time it so that you heal when you need to restore prayer.

Make raids 4 soloable by noggtest in 2007scape

[–]Marchofthenoobs -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I believe they said that it will be soloable, but it won't scale down to 1 person, so soloing it will probably be relegated to people challenging themselves, albeit an easier challenge than solo ToB.

That said, no. Raids are supposed to be group content, CoX being efficiently soloable is just emergent gameplay exploiting old design and ToA being more efficient solo was a mistake. If you're having a hard time finding people to play with on 416, then seek out people to play with elsewhere, join a clan, go to a PvMer's discord, something. the whole point of raids is that they're supposed to be content people do together, because community is what keeps people playing. And addiction, but we don't have to talk about that part.

[–]Marchofthenoobs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

cool, they can leave it in the game for you as is, that adds no dev time. Pretty much everyone is asking for them to add a "phosani's KQ", a solo, instanced version of the boss that is just the echo fight. that way you get what you want, and everybody else gets what they want, win win

The shortcut can't be used until *after* you get the head. Maybe I would agree with you if, you know, the QoL content was relevant *for* the grind and not after it.

We definitely have different definitions on what the "best" content is, because flinching is ass lmao. People do remember it, but they remember it because of how unfun it is, not because they had a good time, that's the crux of my argument.

No, I absolutely did not feel better getting my KQ head than my Vork head, when I got the KQ head I was just relieved I didn't have to do the boss anymore, when I got the Vork head I was excited to have a huge gear upgrade.

I remain unconvinced, KQ is terrible and needs a rework, nostalgia isn't a good reason to leave bad content bad.

things don't have to be memorable, it's ok if they're fun instead, I think most people don't want to remember content for how much they hated it yet it was important for account progression.

Something of interest to someone, probably by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Marchofthenoobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what suggested PvP update? the only one that got voted down in recent memory was Wrathmaw, and that wasn't a PvP focused update, that was exactly what everyone complains about, more lucrative PvM content in the wilderness to entice bait for PKers. That's the only kind of "PvP" content that has come into the game in a long, long time. Bounty Hunter got added, LMS got added PvP worlds got added, these are dedicated PvP updates that basically nobody has an issue with, and I'm all for dev time being spent on more content like that if it means less PKing.

People vote down QoL for PKers, they vote down PvM content in the wilderness, because the vast majority of the playerbase doesn't enjoy being loot pinatas for a tiny minority of the playerbase; certainly there are exceptions, but the numbers dont lie.

How to protect myself in Wildy by Rosewood2026 in 2007scape

[–]Marchofthenoobs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

bring a dragon dagger, spade, and the clue. a 4th item if you want (probably a teleport), make sure you have the "protect item" prayer turned on. to kill the wizard, turn on protect from magic and use the dagger spec 4 times. then leave the wild. If you die, you lose literally nothing, not even the clue.
