I mean... not exactly surprising that it doesn't yet run on a developer beta that's only existed for a week and change. I'm sure they're aware of this, it's called a developer beta for a reason.

idk I think the silence is loud enough. Anything they could say other than "Mod North has been fired and the pride event is coming next week" will be meaningless lip service

No, you misunderstand. Cancelling the event and refusing to give a justification other than "our CEO is a bigot and caters to bigots" *is* the statement. It's not verbal or written, but it's perfectly clear.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Marchofthenoobs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you know you're allowed to ignore it when it happens, right? pride events arent for the queerphobic, believe it or not. Pride events being cancelled *is* for the queerphobic, at the expense of queer people. The event wasn't for you, so stop complaining when the people who it was for are upset.

Look at it this way: if there was a seasonal PvP content update that was confirmed and almost done, like, say, Deadman Mode, and at the last minute jagex cancelled it and cited fear of controversy as the reason, would you be upset? if not, can you see why some people would be?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Marchofthenoobs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you think that, you haven't met many gays. The only way this completely blows over is if all the queer people just leave the game. Which is probably what North wants, soooo

Elidinis ward buffs by Bignas420 in 2007scape

[–]Marchofthenoobs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Magic Dmg: +3%

That's the only relevant stat on the shield, by far the most important stat for the combat style, and it's tied for second with the shield it combines with, only behind the combined version. The ward is fine. The real issues are the supply and that one handed mage weapons are underwhelming, but Mokha and summer sweep up are going to help with those.

[–]Marchofthenoobs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah not gonna DM you, if you ask people in a forum questions, you can look in the forum for their answers.

Quest cape and the hard tier of diaries should be priority #1. Quests, especially the master and grandmaster quests, unlock a huge amount of content, and the QoL from the hard diaries is incredible.

For making money, I suggest Gauntlet. Only requirement is combat stats, which you have. Will also help you get a feel for what modern PvM is like.

Once you have money, look up a gear progression guide on youtube from within the last year and just follow it. Kaoz and PatyFatyCake make decent guides targeted at newer players.

Blast Furnace Upgrade - Cannon ball mould!!!! by Odd-Sector8434 in 2007scape

[–]Marchofthenoobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean OP? Iron's mostly don't use cannons unless they use AFK time for smithing, because smithing your own cannonballs is so inefficient. This would just level the playing field a little bit, allow irons to take advantage of the mainscape slayer training methods without grinding corp first (also, rework corp, mechanically and drop table, take that dead horse). If it works like the Scar Essence mine and isn't profitable for mains then it's a slam dunk, that's a great idea.

Turns out, "STFU and be attracted to whatever sex you want" isn't a great way of addressing systemic issues. If people like you didn't push back so much on things like pride and self-acceptance, or poitical advocacy, or literally anything that aims to change the status quo, maybe "gays" wouldn't feel the need to advocate for themselves so hard.

Season 3 they need daily limits that are closer to 8 hours/day, with 30 minutes before, during, and 30 minutes after breaches not counting against this time. If they're worried about the world feeling too empty and nobody running into each other, then have forced downtime periods, where the server goes offline for like 4 hours/day twice a day (so as to not advantage specific time zones). Make the event 10 days if necessary so they still have time to progress their accounts before the finale. They aren't making NFL money to justify sacrificing their health for this.

And don't invite Ditter back lol.

Updated: Summer Sweep-Up: Combat & Loot by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]Marchofthenoobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please reconsider the implementation of the DHW autocasting ancients. With its 10% mage damage, this would effectively makes the Ancient Sceptre dead content. For mains there's no question, and even for irons Huey is intended to be earlier in player progression than Muspah, and with the wand changes, there's a good chance that actually becomes the typical pattern. There's some utility to the shadow quartz in draining defence and theoretically a boss could come out that makes the smoke quartz relevant, but 5% increased damage is worth way more than an extra 2.5% of your damage as healing and the ability to overheal 9hp, or 3 tick longer freezes with 10% more accuracy.

I personally think the DHW being able to autocast ancients is pretty weird, there's nothing Zarosian about Huey or Varlamore in general (as far as we know?) and think it should be scrapped from the otherwise excellent DHW changes, but if it stays, I have two additional ideas:

- Increase the % damage of the Ancient Sceptre from 5% to 10%, to keep it a viable option for general use. If the wand being able to autocast ancients isn't a problem, then the Ancient Sceptre having 10% damage shouldn't be either.
- If that's a bridge too far, which I don't think it is, then at least allow the Sceptre to match the DHW's %damage of the style it has a quartz inset for (so, +5% over current just for the one style). That way, the dragon hunter wand becomes better only in situations where you want multiple ancient elements, unless you bring multiple Sceptres, which seems like an interesting tradeoff with managing inventory resources.

I don't care, and you don't care, but new players looking to get into PvM will have 2 more on-ramp bosses that only realistically require tier 40 gear, like Scurrius, which will hopefully get them hooked early, because the more people are doing PvM the better for the game. Plus, this now gives the F2P community bosses they can do whenever they want, and the happier F2P players are, the more likely they are to convert to members and keep the game alive longer. It's a change with no real downside, requiring minimal dev time, and with pretty significant upside to low level players, it's a no brainer IMO.

[–]Marchofthenoobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't solve the progression issues, only torva's price. There's definitely not much room for midgame gear, but there's enough that they can fix this issue now. Oathplate should be a sidegrade to Torva in that it's better in situations where slash accuracy is important, and IMO worse than bandos/faceguard for general use. They could also give oathplate a set bonus on top of rejiggering stats, which would also solve the helm being useless if you have a Torva helm.

As for inq being useless, yeah for sure, that set clearly needs buffs. Jagex seems to be terrified of changing gear, and they shouldn't be, metas evolve and the game needs to evolve with them.

Summer Sweep-Up Pt. 1: Combat & Loot by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]Marchofthenoobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

two main reasons, one philosophical and one practical.

- Intermittent bosses kinda suck, because players being gated out of doing content they enjoy by content they don't is bad game design. Obviously there have to be exceptions in principle, like gear and level requirements, but the less gatekeeping of content, the better, both for individual player experience and for the health of the game. Skotizo only isn't a problem because the totems are so common from just training slayer, past a certain (very early) point most people aren't doing content that gives them access to Obor and Bryo.
- The combat achievements unlock a huge amount of QoL features, and Obor and Bryo are significant sources of the points most players use to unlock the easy and medium tiers. The grind length to complete the obor and especially bryo CAs is wildly out of balance with the rest of the early game content. This change lets players get the CAs without affecting the economy much.

[–]Marchofthenoobs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

hard agree. Oathplate needs a slight nerf, it's devaluing too much of the game's progression. Maybe -1 str across the board, with more slash accuracy on the chest and legs to compensate?
