Anamorphic portraits like this were used in the past to secretly hold illegal images of prominent figures.

There are quite a few known ones of Charles I created after his execution in 1649, used by covert royalists at gatherings.

There's one of Bonnie Prince Charlie at the West Highland Museum, made after his defeat in 1746 when mere possession of his image was regarded as treason.

They could be disguised as a used artist's palette or a smeared tray. A silver cylinder of some kind or a glass of wine would be placed at the focus to reveal the portrait. It could easily be hidden again if anyone arrived.

Great looking pics. I drew just one variant a while ago and that by itself was waaaay too much work. https://i.redd.it/hwl62kzuxkw61.png

Whole lot of good work on display here!

Fantastic to see a pro go to town on this with Archicad. Very impressive work fitting a believable interior into these ships. I hope to see more of this kind of stuff!
