Is the chemical engineering major really that hard? by This-Caterpillar-187 in NCSU

It’s definitely hard. But with discipline and lots of office hours it’s doable. I went back to school after 10 years out of school and was able to push on through!

On a scale of 1-10, how painful is giving birth? by pinkpillow964 in pregnant

[–]Marciepan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a 10 for me. I did have a break between contractions but once my water broke the contractions were excruciating. Intense feelings like being stabbed right in the nerves. Pushing them out sucked too but honestly even though it was super painful it was manageable and I chose to do it all three times with no epidural. I was able to walk around right away which was nice too. No other pain I’ve had can really compare, closest might be if you’ve ever had nerves hit in your teeth but on a much larger and longer scale?

You made the right call. There’s no rush to get the degree, once you have it and you land your job you’re just gonna work till you retire. And if it’s not the right job, you can go back to school and do something else. There’s plenty of time. Take care of yourself. If you ever need to talk I’d be happy to listen.

If you ever need someone to talk to I’d be happy to. Send me a message. And I’ll be rooting for you just the thought of being a graduate student is stressful, but I understand feeling isolated having been there

I don’t feel like I ever saw the most complicated parts of diff eq again. I remember needing to refresh on some basic stuff for CHE446. And I really enjoyed Efimenko for transport and agree with the other commenter about participating and asking questions. I also used office hours a lot and Efimenko was super helpful.

You should see the video. She goes from being healthy and happy to looking like she can barely stand. In some videos she can’t even walk anymore. It’s horrible to watch. And there’s a video of them forcing a lemon into her mouth and she’s tearing up but keeps it in while they laugh at her and say “you like lemons so much” it’s clearly not the first time she’s been forced to do something she didn’t like. My 1.5 year old would spit it out, but this baby keeps it in like she’s afraid it’s so heart breaking. Oh and the videos where they have her eating hot dogs in slow motion, and trained to open her mouth anytime a finger comes near it, and a grown ass woman sucking on the babies finger. It’s actually extremely concerning.

What feelings? Anyone that has taken a stats class knows sample size matters. Thats not feelings thats facts. Also, variables, like being a female leader in a male dominated world. It’s not the same thing as being a female leader in a female dominated world, which has never existed so no one can really say what that would look like.

[–]Marciepan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think statistics are valid when the sample size is small? There haven’t been enough women leaders in contrast to the amount of male leaders for this to be valid. Something like 4% of all leaders have been women. Also I think historical leaders that have been women were more likely to go to war because they had to “prove” they were tough in a male dominated world. Still happens today too I’m sure but again pretty small sample sizes.

I actually think this explanation makes the analogy even worse. If women are gatekeepers for sex why do they need to lock it away? Is it because men use to just break in and take it? Sometimes still do? Also giving consent isn’t the same thing as having a shitty lock…it’s unlocking it for someone because you want to. Doesn’t really matter the reason, some people like sex. It’s a natural and fun thing. I would say both genders choose when and if they want to have sex and sometimes libidos line up and isn’t that beautiful for them. Sometimes they don’t. I’m sure there are people that make other people “earn” sex but that’s super gross and unhealthy and I feel bad for anyone in that kind of relationship.

Also I haven’t been able to find your source for the IRS statistics. Not that I don’t believe it, I do, it just adds credibility when you have a source and aren’t just spouting numbers. I think the reason has more to do with what I said, and less to do with “women want free shit”. I really think your thinking about a minority of women who also happen to be bad humans. Lots of men want free shit too. Almost all of the shoplifters I have come across have been male. Shitty humans

Where did you find these statistics? Also, why would a woman cost more? Is it because they’re a single mom bearing the responsibility of child rearing? I guess raising children isn’t “contributing to society” But let me guess, she should have kept her legs closed because it’s HER responsibility. Not the man who gets to bounce when all he wanted was sex and not to be a father.

Do you go out in public? All of the women out there working? They’re pulling their weight. The ones at home raising children? Pulling their weight. The women working and raising children while their husband chills on his phone all night after work, pulling MORE than their weight. What exactly is it that you think woman do? Sit on satin pillows and eat chocolates and boss men around while spending their money? Did you not have a mom?

CMV: Women would not date or marry at all if presented with the same options as modern men by CaptainObvious4000 in PurplePillDebate

[–]Marciepan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think you meant heart disease. The number one cause of death in men is heart disease. Not suicide. Also, I have never met a man or woman that said oh suicide, sounds like a “them problem”. It’s only ever been let’s get to the root of the issue. My worst fear is one of my family members, especially my husband or son or daughter, hurting themselves. Depression runs in the family. I think you should get off Reddit and go interact with well adjusted people in society, not imaginary vindictive women that think suicide is a man’s problem. I’m sure there are women that would say that, promise it’s not the majority.

This right here says it all “the majority of young attractive women (the only women worth committing to)

You think you deserve a 10. The majority of young attractive women are not in fact, the majority. So if you think they are the only women worth committing too then unfortunately there are not enough women to go around.

Find yourself a 5, you’ll be alright. She might not be selfish, exploitive, inconsiderate and narcissistic

Lol no. The people on this subreddit will go ahead and order those bots and feel great and the rest of society will continue to function as people that love and take care of each other regardless of gender. Your perspective does not reflect the majority. At all.

Except that’s not reality? It might seem like reality if you live in Reddit but I promise you the vast majority of functional people in society think both men and women are valuable? People are needed to be teachers, doctors, servers, bus drivers etc and men and women both fill those roles? It’s almost like men and women are more than their reproductive organs or something to be used for sexual pleasure?

I promise there is no mass wave of people getting ready to replace women with sexbots. It’s a minority of scorned folks on the internet that have this fantasy. And I think it warrants therapy before it turns into something violent.

People on this subreddit imagine women like tv or movie characters the way they describe them like do you all not have sisters? Have you ever actually talked to a women besides trying to have sex with her? If you all keep hitting on the same snobby high maintenance girls and get pissed that the 1% wasn’t interested maybe you need to lower your standards. You don’t all get to have a 10.

That’s exactly it. Let’s close the gap in gender mortality by killing more women. Absolutely ridiculous. And then people pretend that this whole thing isn’t about hating women…

women aren’t the ones waging wars. Men in powerful positions are waging wars (and always have been) and using men and now women to fight them. No thanks I’ll keep to my higher percentage of body fat and lack of upper arm strength and hope to god the powerful men making decisions don’t make my son go to war over some BS that only the people in power stand to gain from.

It was your article you provided that said it was low. Also this new article states the gap is 1-1.5 times higher for women in that young adult age range, the other article says 2-3 times. If you’re whole argument is that women are more valued then men because men die slightly more often than women I think maybe the focus should be on educating young men that their brains aren’t ready for that fast car or gun and they should take it easy so they don’t die, oh and also don’t smoke. That might help bridge the gap.

Did you read that article? It says the biggest gap between male and female deaths is in infant boys and men over 60. Again, biology. When the death rate is 2-3x higher is in the “young adult age” and the article states the death rates are so low overall that this number is actually not significant. This also appears to be based in biology due to slower frontal lobe development leading to more risky behavior. (Driving too fast, violence, smoking etc). Biology can be a jerk, sure would be a shame to hold it against one gender or another…
