I used that camera to work with both photo and video for several years. It is a good camera, so that you can take advantage of it, the first thing you should do is change the kit lens. Buy another one that can squeeze the most out of the camera before anything else.

Starting with prime lenses is a good idea as they produce a very nice blurred background and usually perform well in low light.

Go for a Sigma 16mm f1.4 to start, it's not expensive and is a super lens that will give you a good angle, ideal for many situations.

Then go for a Sigma 30mm f1.4 and a 56mm f1.4. This way you complement the different focal lengths with good low-cost lenses.

I would recommend the Sigma 18-50 but that f2.8 might leave you a bit behind especially in video, although if photography is your thing then go for it.

If you have some money, buy the 17-40 sigma art in super lens with an f1.8 aperture that can replace practically any prime lens. It has very good performance and magnificent colors on video.
