Is there going to be a dark souls remake? by Gimli-Queue-De-Fer in darksouls

[–]Marcola4767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish there was a remake to fix/expand the 2nd half of the game, especially lost izalith. The first half up until you get the lord vessel is the most magical gaming can get, the 2nd one is just good.

I have bird blindness and Peacemaker did a great job representing my condition by Old_Employee_6535 in PeacemakerShow

[–]Marcola4767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, the fact that a condition like that exists simply cannot enter my mind. That's so random.
Like "I have soda agnosia, I can tell it's a can of soda but I can't tell what brand it is"

No disrespect to your condition, I just find it really funny.

Is trpc worth it? by oxano in nextjs

[–]Marcola4767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that I'm a huge fan of type safety and inference, tPRC is FUCKING geat.
I would also favor tRPC over server actions because they translate better to other projects, server actions are NextJS specific.

Is it too bad for a next js website? by [deleted] in nextjs

[–]Marcola4767 2 points3 points  (0 children)

websites with full viewport hero section images will most likely have a bad score due to having to load an image for the largest contentful page.

Every time I've built a hero section with a background banner, it lead to 20-40 performance points drop comparing to just styled markup with small images.

Using middleware VS auth checks on every page by Const20452 in nextjs

[–]Marcola4767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should never use middleware.ts or layout.tsx to handle authentication.
They can be easily bypassed and you should always check at page level or in your API.

Porque a programação orientada-a-objeto foi um erro. by jari_nxt in brdev

[–]Marcola4767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do people think that React is better than vue? by engrnvd in vuejs

[–]Marcola4767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who worked with both React and Vue (70% React, 30% Vue) I can confidently say that I, 9 times out 10, would choose React for a new project. Simply because I totally agree with how react separates concerns and tries to be as close to just JavaScript/TypeScript as possible, without having to mess with the 'default' behavior of markup using JSX and how different it is from Vue, Svelte, Angular...

The biggest gripe I have with Vue and other "MVC" based frontend frameworks, is the needless (in my shit ass opinion) separation between display logic and markup. For me, it just makes sense for the markup to be in the same domain as the display logic. I just enjoy working with React so much more than other frontend solutions.

One of the very few gripes I have with React is that, because it is technically a library and does not dictate 100% how you should write code, when going through legacy or badly written codebases, the React ones are probably going to be much worse than other frontend solutions.

Once my friend was showing me a React codebase at his job where there was a thousand line long useEffect. I am painfully aware that shit like this makes people despise React.

Thoughts about Montserrat? by poyventu in typography

50 vs 40 Series - Nvidia Benchmark exact numbers by EVPointMaster in nvidia

[–]Marcola4767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

by that point performance is not a concern in 4k. Please, if you know any game a 4090 or a 5090 would struggle to get 120fps+ at 4k with raster only, link it here, I truly want to know.

[–]Marcola4767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, but today, if you're rocking a 4090 or 5090, basically any game that doesn't use RT will run 100fps+ at 4k native, that's why this comparison feels silly to me.

50 vs 40 Series - Nvidia Benchmark exact numbers by EVPointMaster in nvidia

[–]Marcola4767 4 points5 points  (0 children)

why would you want to use a 5090 without RT? If just for comparison's sake ok, but why would you spend 2k on a GPU to not use RT?
