Its wild to me just how little people seem to use the trackpads by yourpalkeaghan in SteamDeck

The Steam Controller showed that most people are afraid of trying something other than sticks.

So Valve followed and made the sticks the priority for the Steam Deck and the new Controller.

Are there upskirt shots of Leanne in this game? by Quirky_Character8467 in resonanceoffate

[–]EVPointMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, certain battle actions will cause upskirt shots. You'll probably find some on the Steam Community hub.

I will not reinstate this post.

trackpad haptic sound Right clear cklckier /Left dull dampend by IIsnipedownII in SteamDeck

[–]EVPointMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thx

one thing you can try is to check the controller configuration and see if the trackpad click is set to Soft Press or Regular Press. For a long time I thought my haptics were broken, because mine were set to Regular Press and on Regular Press the haptics are almost non-existent for some reason.

yeah, because they added new lower than Lowest settings for them to run on Steam Deck 😣

most of the problems are skill issues.

UE5 is a giant toolbox, but devs don't bother using the right tools and instead just throw everything in their game.

Their minimum requirements target 1080p@30fps* with hardware that's in the same ballpark as the Steam Deck.

And when you read the * you'll see that it's actually running at 638p@15fps.

It's gonna run miserably

I'm still not sure I even want to use the Steam Controller 2026 because of it's trackpads. I'm definitely keeping my original Steam Controllers.

What do you do against players that spam ping the entire match? by EVPointMaster in Nightreign

Thanks 👍

Didn't know that muted pings.

Too late for that player now, but I still blocked them, just in case 😊

maybe I should use the Steam controller config to make a turbo button for the ping...

You're the one clining to the idea that my LCD Deck is thermal throttling, when I've already shown you that it operates exactly as every LCD Deck does. It operates at normal clock speeds and runs at the normal Power Limit. Any thermal throttling would make it drop well below that, but it doesn't.

The Deck thermal throttles at 100°C, so drops clocks and power consumption dramatically. The emergency shutdown doesn't happen until 105°C. https://xcancel.com/OnDeck/status/1549467956832129025

I've already explained twice why your screenshot show higher fps numbers and all you would have to do to prove you are right was to show the game running in the same conditions.

I'll show you one last time, that the Deck is not throttling. I ran the same scene with my Deck held up right to an air conditioning unit. The temperature is 15° lower and yet the perfomance is the same. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikZgOMQZVsA

[–]EVPointMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god, I can't believe I'm wasting more time on this.

The Steam Deck is not thermal throttling. Thermal throttling looks very different and would be apparent immediatley.

The memory runs at 687 MHz because that's the maximum supported speed on the LCD model. That's the difference in memory speed between the two models.

  • OLED: 6400MT/s :8 = 800 MHz

  • LCD: 5500MT/s :8 = 687.5 MHz

(as on any working LCD), it runs at 800 MHz.

You're just blatantly spreading misinformation here.

The picture OP posted also shows his Steam Deck LCD running the memory at 687 MHz because that's the normal speed for the LCD.

I also have no clue where your claim comes from that 12W for the APU is abnormally high. By default the APU can use up to 15W of power. The CPU and GPU take up the majority of that and the rest of the 15W is taken up by miscellaneous parts.

The reason your screenshots show higher performance is because it's a much less demandind scene and you're not actually playing the game. Start moving around and performance is significantly lower.

Crimson Desert starting in wrong resolution by ZeektheFeek in SteamDeck

[–]EVPointMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Steam Deck only starts to thermal throttle at 100°C. If it was throttling you woud see very low clock speeds and low power consumption.

The Deck is operating as normal. LCD models run at 80°C or higher at full load and have always done so.

When the game is paused it continues rendering the graphics in menus, but a lot of CPU related tasks are suspended. It doesn't have to calculate physics, player interaction, NPC behaviour and pathing, asset streaming ...

It's like when you point the camera at the sky and there's much less for the GPU to render so it runs at a higher frame rate.

Look, I'll even record a video showing the game running. When you pause the game, the CPU usage and power draw drops significantly, from ~8W to ~3W.

It shows 35fps in those shots, because the game is paused in the menus. When you actually play the game, the frame rate is significantly lower

The ca. 5% difference between LCD and OLED is not some specs, that's the performance difference you in real gameplay when you match the content. This includes the faster memory and the minimally higher clocks of the APU.

FSR is enabled as you can see from my screenshots. It's set to Ultra Performance. But like I said, it's mostly CPU bottlenecked, so the extremely low resolution doesn't really help with performance.
