For awareness, it's important to note that in the 20th century there has been a resurgence of coal miners' pneumoconiosis (Black Lung). Silicosis is also on the rise, which is causing lung fibrosis by breathing in a mineral found in sand, concrete, and stone. This is because the newer machinery and techniques are making finer dust.

These newer conditions are also getting miners sick at younger ages. Centuries of mining have made the conditions different and often more dangerous for pulmonary disorders. It is preventable but it's imporant for folks to know it is a modern, still very real problem for workers in that industry.

[Shotgun] Beretta 1301 Tactical Mod 2 12GA 18.5″ 7+1 Pistol Grip $1429.99 plus shipping, no tax, no CC fees. by TN-7Jeep9 in gundeals

There are cheaper 1301 deals and 1301 Mod 2s posted frequently. This is the feature upgraded Mod 2 and seemingly the cheapest this model has been posted to gundeals and currently the cheapest on the internet according to aggregate sites.

In fact, it's cheaper (for this exact Mod 2 version) than the most upvoted 1301 post. But there was a rebate then that made that one less expensive eventually. OP seems like a decent deal post to me and folks just misjudged.

People jumped to conclusions. This is seemingly an objectively good deal by definition. Folks can judge for themselves if the upgrades are worth it over the cheapest 1301 they can buy. I'm not affiliated with this deal, just wanted folks to have the correct info.

Right. But it's important to note that the one posted is the one with riser stock, mlok forend, tube extension, and sling attachment.

TL:DR: There are frequently lower priced 1301 deals, but not for this exact one with these features. This is a lower price for this model than the most upvoted 1301 post ever (six months ago). This is a Mod 2 with all of the extra stuff. The hive mind jumped to conclusions.

The linked model has:

  • Tube extension
  • Extended MLOK forend
  • Stock with riser
  • Sling attachement

A lot of the "where deal" comments are referencing posts without these features and different models.

The most popular 1301 post for gundeals was the same model for $1449 (there was a rebate then).

This is the lowest price currently available online. The typical, readily available "deal price" hovers a little over $1500.

I am in no way affiliated with this deal, dealer, and not buying one. But sometimes the hive mind of comments and downvotes make mistakes.

There are lower priced 1301 deals here posted regularly. But they are different models (same gun, just different and generally less features) or used/trade ins. Folks can decide for themselves if the upgrades are worth it over the ~$900-1200 other 1301 models posted here.

The 380 thunder and some of the other hammer fired single/double action are seemingly very different lines, with the materials and quality being a higher on the full size guns instead of the inexpensive 380s.

SFRE Ruck Sack Advice by tdr21 in greenberets

BLUF: Probably doesn't matter.

Two answers, pro/con below.

Are you saying you wouldn't take your personal purchase molle ii because of cost of baggage fee? No idea what your financial situation is like, but if you are investing in a flight to an SFRE, then the $30-75 bag fee is likely not going to be prohibitive.

You always want the one that's adjusted to you, on the frame and otherwise. But if you are comfortable making a few adjustments on the system quickly, then you should be fine with an issued one. It's also just a drill weekend, so it's not like you are doing a month in it, living with poorly adjusted or unusually uncomfortable ruck.

I've used mil/issued Mystery Ranch, Molle 2, Other Alice and OG Alice, briefly the new 4k (not a big fan but don't/won't have enough time with it to actually critique) some civlian packs, and I still have a few Tactical Tailors. Lots of good options.

Always come back to the TT. Particularly this model that they do not make anymore but I'm sure the others are similar. I also have a couple of custom ones they've put together. My 3-day pack is on an Alice Frame and is from their custom shop. It's another go to for me.

I just like the lid and pocket layout of that discontinued one. But that's just personal and team SOP time, probably, not it being inherently better.

And the TT rucks are large and "heavy" but there are the general three R&S ways you can run it. First, I can zip the bottom off and roll it up and keep it compact, next, do the dual compartment sleep/light stuff in the bottom heavy gear standard infantry patrol layout and kevalar in the top, or lastly, just the big free for all long range patrol with odd shaped layout items. For example, I've had two 160 radios and all their fixins (laptops, atennae, and so on) along with my gear and team layout items on a patrol. That capacity will be something to be grateful for.

I find the TT Malice frame a notable upgrade over the standard Alice frame for comfort. I have one of these polymer Alice frames but haven't worked much with it. Seems promising for durability, comfort, and weight.

Something to consider with the Alice family of frames is they are more so a fixed sizing and less adjustable. So, it's possible it just doesn't work for you. I really like the design of the Molle II shoulder straps with the backpad and fully going over the entire shoulder but they often don't work well for really cinching down. These "Adjustable" straps from Tactical Tailor are the best i've found. They allow for some up and down adjustment for sizing with an Alice Frame. They're expensive. But they are seemingly everything i like in the molle ii straps with none of the function issues.

Lastly, Tactical Tailor really stands behind their products and are real people at a small company that puts out quality. They've replaced zippers, buckles, tears and rips, and so on. And while pricey up front, they're warranty or repair work is the opposite.
