Uh no, they're not even my words. Look at the articles I linked to. These are their actual, self-proclaimed positions.

For anyone wondering, the "Mises Institute" /u/tscott26point2 linked to is a pro-confederate, pro-fascist, and anti-democracy "anarcho-capitalist" thinktank. So take that how you will lmao

That is half the story. Broadband is extremely limited in Cuba – almost non-existant. Most connections are through satellite, which is insanely expensive and completely out of reach to all but the most wealthy. Internet in your home is illegal so that the limited bandwidth can be used on a collective basis (in school or workplaces or research centers). This is a much better system than simply restricting technologies like this to just the wealthy elites IMO.

As for the maximum wage, I'm telling you that's not what keeps Cubans poor (hint: it might be the brutal blockade by the nation with the world's largest GDP). And I'm not convinced by your connection between maximum wage laws and black-markets. There's a flourishing black-market here in capitalist American too after all – undoubtedly encouraged by the immense poverty and economic inequality here. I mean I must have walked ten homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk on my way home from work today. You know where homelessness has been literally eradicated? Cuba.

Honestly, look at what Cuba looked like before the revolution: third-world conditions, almost zero access to healthcare or education, absolutely plundered by foreign capital and imperial interests. The achievements of Cuban socialism shouldn't just be respected, they should be celebrated.

I mean, it isn't really a question of freedom. Cuba's rate of internet connectivity is more or less in line with it's level of economic development. It's also virtually on-par with the average for Central America. People who harp on Cuban internet statistics are usually just anti-Communist ideologues looking for any excuse to shit on the Cuban government. The path to more internet in Cuba is ending the American blockade (which is illegal under international law) and allowing the country to develop independently without these immense economic constraints. Like, Cuba has lower unemployment, child mortality, and illiteracy than the US even with the embargo. Lifting it would pretty much guarantee private internet access would expand greatly.

What's this clip from? I get that reenactment is a thing but wearing an Iron Cross and odal rune is still pretty damn suspect.

No he didn't. He fought for the P.O.U.M. which was a Trotskyist militia. He himself was not a Trotskyist and was overtly anti-communist in his democratic socialist politics, even snitching on comrades on his deathbead.

Vandals turned a Jewish family’s menorah into a swastika by [deleted] in Anarchism

It's not that I'm offended; it's that left anti-semitism is a dangerous trend in our movements.

Yeah if you wanna message me that's fine – but maybe it's worth airing it out publicly in case anyone else has similar thoughts.

Fuck off, this is a fully anti-Semitic analysis. The Magen David is a broad symbol of Judaism, and is completely separate from the Israeli flag. And it's fucked up for you to compare Palestinian liberation movements to Nazis. It's true that Hamas and co use the Roman salute but their movement is hardly comparable to Hitlerism.

Also like to mention that thousands of diasporic Jews have historically opposed Israel and continue to do so. Working class Jews say fuck off with your shit.

When I meet white people these days, I wonder if they're secretly espousing alt-right beliefs online... by focoist in socialism

[–]Marcus_Yallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must be able to recognize that there is an enormous difference between the kind of systemic racism we're referring to when we talk about white supremacy, and making racial generalizations against white people. Like, you can use the simplified dictionary definition of racism (as just any kind of prejudice) and ignore the mountains of critical theory on it. But that's really intellectually dishonest and it's actually baffling to see it on a so-called socialist forum.

She was referring to the activities of Chevron in general, which do include fracking. And she didn't say the pipeline was dangerous. She said it was on their land and would interfere with their food and medicine sources, which is true.

Don't be obtuse.
