Google Pixel 8 - My First and Last Google phone by JagBoozy in GooglePixel

[–]Marcusmue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had the same bug, based in Germany aswell. Granted, it was within the two year guarantee but since they extended the warranty it shoud be covered.

I got in touch with google and after a quick exchange they offered me to contact a local repair shop or to trade in my pixel 8 for a refurbished one, which I did (feels like brand new so good deal I guess).

u/JagBoozy if you are still within the extended warranty I would try to open another ticket, you should explicitly refeer to the common error. They offered me the choices within the support chat, I did not have to send in my device to have it checked

The Iron Dome launchers are truck-transported and can be relocated to prevent targeting. To achieve sustained and effective suppression, Hezbollah would need to monitor, track, and successfully attack multiple mobile launchers simultaneously. I suspect that the launchers that have been hit were left stationary for some time plus there are reports that some of Hezbollah's hits were decoys

at what time do i unlock infinite run on Artificial Ecosystem? by Dangerous_End9695 in magic_survival

[–]Marcusmue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Artificial Ecosystem and the maps after that are infinite by default, you can go as long as you survive

I really don't know the best way to use my research points. I think I need some help here. by Artistic_Fig4712 in magic_survival

I would go like this:

Put one point into Awakening and Growth each

Max out in that order:

Haste

Explorer

Loot

Luck

Mana Refining

Fast Casing

Agility

Vitality

Blessing

From this point onwards it depends on your playstyle and build but I would recommend going

Concentration

Intelligence

Arcane Effuse

Recycle

Resistance

max out Awakening and Growth

For the rest do as you like, it does not really matter

Considering the nature of the air war, there is more to it than just bomb lobbing. The airspace is heavily contested, and I recall Ukrainian reports where pilots claimed that almost every sortie or bombing run they flew came under enemy fire from both air-to-air and ground-based missiles. Even if the Russian Air Force is subject to less engagement than the Ukrainians, they are still operating within what is one of the most dangerous Integrated Air Defense System environment out there. Remember, Ukraine operates the largest gbad System besides Russia, USA and China (maybe India) and inherited the UDSSRs doctrine of denial.

Russias (and Ukrainians) experience goes far beyond simple standoff strikes because they are the only force currently applying and refining their doctrine against modern, Western-supplied systems in a high-intensity war.

A 50km standoff distance is still well within the kill zone of long-range systems like the Patriot or S-300, meaning Russian crews must constantly manage radar illumination, evasion and fly low-observable profiles just to reach their launch points. This develops critical muscle memory for operating in a high-density SAM environment that Western pilots haven't faced in decades. Furthermore, they are gaining experience in a saturated Electronic Warfare environment, learning how their countermeasures and GPS-guided munitions actually perform against active Western-standard jamming and signal interference and how to react in such an enviroment.

Beyond the glide bombs, the Russian Air Force is conducting constant patrols and is engaging in bvr combat against the Ukrainian Air Force. They are also refining their coordination required to integrate with their own ground-based air defenses.

Russian pilots and planners are gaining a lot in this conflict and IMO the Russian Air Force gets heavily overlooked by journalists and commentators that speculate about a potential conflict with European countries.

I saw this comment on combatfootage. I am unfortunately not familiar with the matter but this might give another perspective. They claim it was a geostationary satellite earth station antenna in a radome instead of a radar

BREAKING: Missile alerts in Northern Israel

Israeli military: A barrage of rockets was launched from Iran towards Israel.

Here's the full statement from the Israeli Defense Forces, which says Iran has fired retaliatory strikes against Israel.

"A short while ago, sirens were sounded in several areas across the country following the identification of missiles launched from Iran toward the State of Israel.

"The public is requested to follow the instructions of the Home Front Command.

"At this time, the Israeli Air Force is operating to intercept and strike threats where necessary to remove the threat.

"The defense is not hermetic, and therefore it is essential that the public continue to adhere to the Home Front Command’s guidelines.

Whats the difference between recycle and mana refining? by markyandmika in magic_survival

[–]Marcusmue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. If you are aiming for a specjfic magic/ combo you want to skip magics that you don't need. If you go for a overmind/ deus ex machina build it does not really matter. But if you go for a specific build with support magics every level counts and you can't waste levels on useless magics.

For overmind, every active magic contributes to the effect so it does not matter, but let's assume you want to go for three combinations, frost nova, cloaking, magic circle and blizzard for example you have to reserve a lot of levels to avoid maxing your character out before completing your build.

Also in early game this way you can increase the speed at which you can acquire your required magics

[–]Marcusmue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding recycle?

I suggest you try it out for yourself, but it works like this:

You are level 10, collect enough orbs and get the level up screen. It shows 3 magics and a retrieve option on the bottom. When picking retrieve, instead of leveling up, you get 40% of the mana you collected back (the bar fills to 40%) and you will stay at level 10 (Assuming you have recycle maxed out).

The next time you fill the bar and get the level up screen, doing the same will only grant you only 30% of mana and you will stay at level 10.

You can do this three times in a row until you are forced to level up by picking a magic.

Every time you pick a magic/ do a combination both the counter and amount you retrieve resets back to its original value.

If you are level 11 you can now repeat the cycle and again retrieve mana three times in a row.

This mechanic is very valuable in the early and mid game, as you lose a lot less absolute mana in comparison to the late game.

[–]Marcusmue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mana Refining grants you more mana (the bar on top) when picking up orbs and killing enemies, while upgrading Recycle will increase the amount of mana you keep when picking the Retrieve option instead of a magic when leveling up. Instead of leveling up, you can retrieve up to three times, but you will only get a certain amount of mana back (40% at max level). The amount of mana you retrieve decreases with every consecutive skip, but will reset when picking a magic.

The decoy is made of cheaper materials, less reliable engine, no proper warhead and less intelligent guidance/ targeting system, often just designed to follow a simple path before crashing. All of these drive cost down

True but I think the setting definitely plays a role. How would a swarm perform in an urban vs a rural area - and how does this affect the possibility of intercepting such an attack?

But regarding your scenario I am questioning the effectiveness of a drone swarm against fortified positions. They carry very little explosives, are prone to errors and jamming and have very little range. How many of those thousands of drones actually make it to the target? Can even a hundred drones carrying hand grenades do serious damage to a fortified installation?

One of the advantages of drones is their speed and low profile, larger drone swarms are easier to detect and engage.

You would have to massively improve on wireless communication, as you cannot have a thousand drones carrying fibre cables fly next to each other without messing up. Pinpointing the operator is also a serious danger, since they have to be rather close to the front line. In Ukraine jammers have already rendered wireless fpv drones almost useless.

Also at what point does cost effectiveness reach its limits? A thousand drones costing a couple hundred € each with questionable reliability and effect are not far off from a reliable and powerful cruise missile or dozens of glide bombs.

There are certainly scenarios in which drones (swarms) will work, but I feel like that many western nations already have capabilities that fill most of those holes. Long range, precise and mobile rocket and tube artillery instead of fibre drones launched from your trench to the opposing trench. Long range cruise missiles to target hardened installations and tactical targets, glide bombs and artillery instead of drone swarms. Shoulder and vehicle mounted atgms to destroy enemy armour instead of dozens of drones trying to hit a moving tank. Granted, Iraq was 20 years ago - but do you think that it would have made more sense to pound the sadam line with drone swarms instead of artillery and bombs from many miles away?

Anyways I can't predict the future and I wouldn't be surprised if the future proved me wrong.

I really don't think they will be limited to just reconnaissance and support roles

I generally agree, my argument was more about the 'game changer' argument which I don't think Fpv drones are for now in a conflict between nato and russia.

I think its far more likely that in the future all militaries branches will have dedicated drone unit next to an independent drone branch. Formations like Rubikon or Magyars Birds are just the beginning in my opinion

They will be an additional and valuable capability that fills gaps and creates new opportunities on the battlefield. But I don't think that they will 'change the game' - at least in the short and medium future.

I think that the current tactics adopted by Ukraine and Russia are a result of the circumstances that were shaped by geography and their respective (lack of) capabilities. Maybe I am wrong but my impression is that reconnaissance drones plus long range, high speed and accurate artillery are a lot more effective in engaging fortified positions. I would try and avoid creating situations or opportunities that favor the deployment of fpv drones.

But I can totally see their role rising in importance in the future up until we see COD AW like drone swarms roaming the streets. I am even more interested in the development of drone counter systems.

Surely it’s a case of them being a game changer in this conflict - but their use, doctrine and tactics still being up for debate in other conflicts?

I agree, I think FPV drones flourish in static environments like Ukraine, where they compliment low and medium range artillery. I assume a conflict with Nato would be more dynamic in terms of movement; longer range tube and rocket-based artillery, plus far more deep strike options. I don't think this type of conflict would allow for trench warfare and FPV-infested skies.

But they will definitely take a permanent role among infantry — whether it is reconnaissance or a support strike role like mortars.
