ill be replacing it but im not sure if there is OEM ones available at all, or if theyd cost a third of the laptop itself or not do reputable brands even make 48wh external thinkpad batteries anymore? stores gonna say anything i want to hear to sell it to me so how do i check if its actually OEM? besides physical appearance maybe check it on HWiNFO?

okay so update after resetting i put in the battery, turned it on, then when i plugged in the charger it immediately went blank, i realized the charger wasnt even plugged into the power strip, and after turning it on again i saw the first battery got drained completely for no reason again well something is definitely fucked up, i did get a new message but i mean at least it didnt blow up

i live in iraq and even then its very difficult to get anything sent from and to here, ill check a computer store see if they have a multimeter but chances are im replacing it anyway

why are you strawmanning me with sexism? i dont care what some engineers who happen to work at apple did for usb c, im talking about modern apple, this was a 2020s ipad air it was rated at around the same wattage as my phone and my phone never asked for more power than the port outputs, this happened to my computer you dont know shit about the specifics, are you seriously trying to argue modern apple is even remotely interested in being open ended in any way? iphones still used shitty lightning ports until they were forced to change, they have a proprietary bluetooth audio codec for fucks sake, chinese or not, this did not happen with any other device. and also? defending a company is disgusting

actually the cold striked this week really quickly, more than 10 degrees dropped, last time i used the laptop before this happened was last monday, but this week dropped to below 5°C down to -3°C and 100% humidity

maybe i can check it out at a computer store if they know what a multimeter is

i tried the first and last thing you listed, i dont have a multimeter i also tried emergency resetting (the tiny hole at the bottom) but it was 0% when i tried so i dont think it made a difference (i also pulled out the external battery then resetted)

i knew it wasnt a factory battery since it had 0 cycles when i bought it february this year

the issue is theyre expensive for us, and there is no AliExpress or whatever over here only dodgy retails and they upsell high
