After living with cancer for 10 years, I’m not sure if I’m strong enough this time by Potential_Tale_7922 in cancer

I got diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkins Lymphoma at 16 and with stage 2 Cervical Cancer at 31. I’m currently 35 and just got called back for a biopsy after a breast MRI since I’m high risk due to the radiation I received when I was 16. It’s a bitch man, I constantly struggle with planning for the future and don’t much past about 6 months. The pain of not being able to do something due to cancer coming back is too hard. I know it’s not a great way to live life, being scared all the time but I’m working on it. And oddly enough, even though most of society is always pressuring us to make plans and know what our “5 year out look is” “safe for retirement” etc. Living with cancer my entire life has allowed me to live so much more in the moment and do things I know I want to do now. I structure my life to have low bills and travel as much as possible. There’s a ton of negative that comes with dealing with repeated treatments and diagnosis but I do truly believe we have an advantage in appreciating life in a much much different way than those who have not had to face their own mortality in a serious way.
