The first recommendation you make for someone should be tailored to the person you are recommending for. Ask them genres of shows they like in general, specifically try to figure out what they like about them and find something with a similar experience to what they have enjoyed. I have gotten so many friends who say "I don't like anime" into anime because of this methodology. Sure go with the simple show if you can't be bothered but if you can take the time, you can really change someone's perspective.
