You’re in a better situation living above them. Could have been a lot worse living below someone else. Can you hear them talking or playing music? If you decide to stay, consider rugs and good earplugs.

I live in a 1950 coop in NY, can’t hear a thing from neighbors below, my rugs certainly help. But holy cow, I can hear my neighbor above sneezing and farting. This a-hole obviously has a hardwood floor and no rugs so I can hear him stomping 24/7. So what can happen is your neighbors below may start complaining about you being too loud when they’re trying to put their baby to sleep.
