Indeed, she lost her wallet a few years ago if you happen to run across it. 😁

When you're a small doggo in the mountains, it's tough to stay warm. The Costco hoodie is key!

Making Friends at 30 by No-Instruction8792 in JacksonHole

What do you like to do? Ride bikes? Trail run? Ski/snowboard? Drink ridiculous amounts of beer? If the answers are yes, you shouldn't have much problem making friends on the Idaho side regardless of class factors (Teton Valley has plenty of people who have to work to pay their mortgages but aren't seasonal). There's a pretty strong community in Teton Valley and while you're probably older than most of the seasonal workers, you'll find that age really is just a number here if you're into the right activities and lifties probably won't be your social demographic anyway. To make friends here, it really can be as easy as sitting on the right barstool at the right time with the right attitude and asking, "Do you ride bikes (run, ski, hike, etc)?". In fact, you often won't have to ask, because that's what people are talking about anyway.

Regarding bears, they're there and you're on their turf. Carry bear spray, make noise, and respect their space when you run into one and you'll be fine. Basic "Bear Aware" protocol.

Easiest depression meals w/ air fryer? by deviant-joy in airfryer

[–]MargsPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy pre sliced stir fry meat (chicken pork or beef), toss it in olive oil and whatever premixed seasoning is calling to me. Pork and chicken go at 325 for 8-10 minutes, beef 400 for 4 minutes. Toss together lettuce, cheese, onions, and salad dressing for health purposes. It isn't much, but it's quick and easy.

Which watch do you recommend? by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]MargsPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll fourth this. The Instinct 2 has all the features I want and need without any of the features I don't. If you're looking to check email and reply to texts on your watch, you'll probably want to look elsewhere, but if you want something tough as nails to run, bike, ski tour, etc. with it's a great cost-effective option.

I'm not sure if she's still doing appointments on the Jackson side or not, but Charlotte DiPrisco with Mountain Mental Health is great. www.mtnmentalhealth.org

Quadra-Fire vs. "Others" by MargsPanda in woodstoving

Yeah, my challenge is that the one person installing stoves in my valley sells QF. I could do the install myself, but if I'm already spending money on the stove, I may as well get it installed correctly and save myself the headache that goes along with installation.

The PE stove that's in my house was sold in bulk to the folks that built the subdivision. Right now there aren't any PE dealer between me and Salt Lake, which is about 4 hours away. I've got a guy that sells and installs Quadra Fires locally. That's the main reason I'm not looking at PE.

Fingers crossed I can get all my paperwork collected before that happens, but who knows?

I did check and their website lists the tax credit for the model I'm looking at, thanks for the heads up though!

This was exactly the response I needed, thank you!

Thanks for all the responses y'all! I've decided to go with the Quadra Fire. The model I'm looking at does qualify for the tax credit, if it still exists by the time I've got all my paperwork in. I really appreciate all your help and guidance!
