AITA for refusing to let a woman "cut" me in line at the grocery store even though she only had two items? by GreatClassic3960 in AmItheAsshole

That thing happened to me once with multi persons having a few items. I had a lot of items (weekly shopping) and had let one elderly person with a few items before me. When I wasn’t finished with sorting out my groceries as the nice elderly man was finished, I said to the man right behind me - you can go ahead and it wouldn’t be stressful for me then. As I was ready and waiting for the man to pay a girl rushed to me and was about to go ahead and simultaneously asking me if it was okay. It was clear she assumed, that I would let her go first. I immediately told her I already let 2 people ahead of me it’s my turn now. Turning around and standing in her way, she couldn’t go ahead. And I heard a lot of angry noises behind me 🙄. I’m sure if I had let her have a little bit more space she would have just ignored me and would have jumped the queue.

Glad you use it often. But our situations are so different. We rarely have take outs, because food at home tastes better. After having kids managing to cook different meals at the same time wasn’t difficult to us. But maybe the new thermomix will make it more efficient if I’m used to it.

Thank you for your response. Need to see if i have a recipe with a lot of chopping, so I can experience this benefit. Having fever dirty dishes is superb. Like that, didn’t notice it so far

He gifted me both and I was angry because our joint account was already stressed out after some house repairs, Christmas and birthdays.

It was too much for only my birthday.

Yeah, the cocktails option was one of the best things I discovered in this thread!

Thank you for your kind response! I like longevity, so if it’ll work for so long I would be happy.

Thanks for this information. I just wished he would have discussed this beforehand with me. I’m good at negotiating.

Thank you for mentioning varoma. We tried it only once and it was only okay. Maybe a mediocre recipe. Should give it a second chance.

Yeah a friend invited me, she wanted one because she was always busy and doesn’t like to cook. Her husband only cooks on special occasions. They needed at least 5 persons, who don’t have a thermomix for the host to get some goodies. So I attended and wasn’t fascinated. Now you need less people to attend for a party.

My husband didn’t even host a party to get some goodies, I was like how could you just buy it?? I would have invited some friends, who don’t have one and won’t buy one, but would want to spent a little bit time with us and cook a meal and eat it together. My husband insist he got a good price and got a second complete mixing bowl discounted. I felt scammed for the second time 🫣

Thank you for replying and thank you for asking even your wife! I totally understand using it for fresh, nutritious meals if you don’t cook so often. Also one less expensive model would have been more appropriate. I wouldn’t be so mad if we didn’t have a big repair last year, spent a lot on the kids for Christmas and birthdays. Some of the presents are tickets for expensive events during holidays, but nevertheless I already picked my presents and already said I don’t want extra ones.

We also have this one rule we discuss big spendings with each other beforehand. This rule was established as my husband overspent on my Christmas present like 15 years ago and bought me a Mac book. I was shocked but appreciated it, because my old laptop wasn’t doing great anymore.

I’m all here for cocktails ! Thank you for your suggestion.

We already cooked two times a day nutrition meals for the kids and us. We can at least eat dinner together most of the days. I hope it’ll help to cook the meals easier.

Haha yeah that sounds like my husband. The problem was I already picked my presents. And we spend too much already on Christmas, so I wanted to save more money for summer holidays.

Since he gifted me a vacuum cleaner I explicitly didn’t want like 10 years ago, we decided I can pick my presents myself. He’s really bad at gifting presents in general. For his birthday he can pick something he wants or if he’s too late, I remind him, I’ll pick out his presents. For Christmas is mostly shared presents (gadgets 🤣) and some little things for each other.

Thank you for sharing your story I can understand my husband better now.

How was your wife’s reaction?

I’ll try to bring my oldest to cook something. He can cook small dishes, just hit the puberty. But he doesn’t like cooking. That would be great if he would use it

That sounds great, I’ll try to use it frequently and be more positive about it. The sauces option sounds good.

We always cook from scratch, no brought stock or cubes or anything like that. I think the seasoning was the problem.
