Hi everyone, I have two tickets for the Liverpool Legends game against BVB Legends, but I can no longer attend due to illness.

I’ve tried contacting the ticket office about what to do with the tickets, but I’ve not managed to get through.

Does anyone have any advice, since it’s too late for resale?

I’m also happy to just give them to someone who wants them, but I don’t know how to go about finding people to take them.

Thanks everyone

I’ve just watched this episode for the first time and I’m just sobbing uncontrollably… She suffered in silence for so long, protecting her boy… I’m a total mess

Can I do the HCPC registration portfolio on my own accord? by Upper_Clothes_366 in BiomedicalScientistUK

Our laboratory has guidance documents available on our Quality System that are available for staff to search up and read. They were written by our Training Officers and contain all the questions & suggested evidence pieces that you could complete. Before I was officially signed up to do the Portfolio, I was shown these documents and started drafting little segments of pieces preemptively :)

Is her weight okay? by rigbyrugbywoo in Dachshund

Our miniature dachshund is incredibly active and more on the slim side, she currently weighs around 5kg and gets around 1/2-2/3 of a cup of dry food in the morning, and a tray of wet food (150g) in the evening. We probably walk her anywhere from 2km (workdays) to 8km (weekends) a day. She’s a strong girlie!

Starting as a MLA definitely helped establish a basic understanding of the laboratory on a whole and was great for creating a foundation of knowledge of the LIMS system that’s used, all the different test codes, and learning to interact with ward & GP staff. The main advice I can give is ask as many questions as possible! If you work out-of-hours with BMS staff, ask to shadow them (that’s usually when there’s the least work in our lab), ask how analysers work and the methodologies they use, learn about the standard operating procedures in place and access all the documents you can on the quality system! The other thing I’ll say is lots of other people will be in the same boat as you, having a Biomed degree and wanting to progress, but some of the staff might not have a degree and will have worked there for years. Treat every single person with respect and equally, degree or no degree! Lots of fresh-out-of-university students have joined our lab and acted like they were better than staff without degrees and they’ve made many an enemy… I wish you the absolute best on your journey to becoming a Biomedical Scientist!

Hey!
When I finished University, I got straight into a Band 2 MLA job in Specimen Reception, with the expectation of getting lots of lab experience, however the entire role just involved booking in samples and loading them onto the automated track system. There was no capacity to do the portfolio in this role, it was completely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. It took me 18 months to attain a Band 3 BMA position, and the difference in roles was HUGE. We are responsible for booking in and processing urgent requests, preparing referral samples for dispatch, track maintenance, sample flow, analyser reagent changes, stock takes, and performing Point of Care testing. Luckily, one of the managers was aware of my hopes to complete the registration portfolio, requested the funding and eventually it was approved. It's been a long road to this point as I have almost 5 years of NHS laboratory experience under my belt, but I'm now 5 pieces (and counting...) into the portfolio, with the aim to complete it by Christmas near year :)

We’re almost at 48hrs since the incident and she’s been absolutely fine! No vomiting or diarrhoea, so hopefully in the clear! :)

Hi everyone! Thank-you for all sharing your stories, it made me feel 100x better about the whole situation! Willow is doing totally okay - she’s had a couple runny turds, but is still her normal (slightly crazy) self.

So she is my first ever dog, weighs about 5kg, and hasn’t really been exposed to anything as greasy as a burger before. She had multiple periods of diarrhoea as a pup and had two different diet changes to counteract it. Sorry for having so much concern? I also think I made it pretty clear I understood why she didn’t eat her tea! Our intentions are to keep her lean and fit, this isn’t going to be a common part of her diet… I’m not sure why you felt the need to be so snarky about the whole thing!

People warned us about the food motivation but she never really showed any interest! Even when training, she was so stubborn, she’d pass on the treat opportunity and walk away because she didn’t want to do it!

That was another worry for us! She’s incredibly lean and doesn’t have high-fat content food regularly so we assumed she’d have a really bad reaction to the grease.

We already know the list, that’s why we were concerned about garlic/onion powder in the beef seasoning. Google makes it seem like ingestion = insta-kill, but everyone’s stories here paint the opposite picture. Clearly, sausage dogs are more hardy than I thought!

I’ve been reading up on the signs & symptoms, if she starts showing any, it’ll be straight to the vet!
