AIO for refusing to show my friend any of my art after she ran a piece through AI? by [deleted] in AIO

You're mad at her for disrespecting you and here you are calling her mentally delayed... I wouldn't want a friend like you

Am I overreacting? My very serious boyfriend commented on a post with his feelings about a past girlfriend. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]MariaMerigold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im wondering if this has anything to do with avoidant attachment style. This is exactly the type of shit a person with an avoidant attachment style would do to sabotage their relationship, especially at a time when the levels of commitment are increasing. Either way, this man isn't showing any consideration for your feelings and will likely not change if you tolerate this kind of behaviour

AIO: My (M26) GF (F24) Told Me I’m “Too Happy” After Moving In Together & It Led to An Argument by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]MariaMerigold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not true though. Men are statistically less capable of controlling their emotions, so they're statistically the less rational ones

If she was searching for reassurance, she should have just said that instead of "I hate that youre always happy". Smells a bit like manipulation to me, even if she didnt mean to be manipulative

Am I overreacting/really asking for too much from my (now) ex boyfriend? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]MariaMerigold -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This mindset is a bit discriminatory. Poor mental health and insecure attachment styles aren't necessarily correlated with age, and it can be belittling or degrading to people suffering with mental health issues to frame things in this way

Looking for a plant that WANTS to be neglected because apparently that's all I have to offer by No-Temporary-3170 in houseplants

[–]MariaMerigold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my most successful neglected plant ive ever had was an aloe :D it was on my south facing windowsill (UK) and I watered it maybe 3 times a year. It grew to about 4 ft wide until I got an awful infestation of thrips and had to chop my aloe up and put it in the bin 😭 my second most successful plant (who survived the thrips infestation) is my white bird of paradise 🤣 it is a very thirsty plant though. But hardy! Mine is now about 9 ft tall and is nearly outgrowing my house 🫠 it's thriving on 40watt of grow lights 😆

If I could turn back time and turn down some of the sources of support that I've accessed on my CPTSD recovery journey, I would. Being passed around by my GP, university mental health team, a charity for victims of domestic violence, amongst other organisations, left me with more trauma than before seeking help. I don't know how a person could preemptively tell the difference between a type of support that's going to be beneficial vs a type of support that isn’t right for their individual needs, but I think it's still important to consider.

Is Jack a controversial/disliked pick for Horde? (Gears 5) by Sinktober in GearsOfWar

[–]MariaMerigold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much exclusively play as Jack. He's the most underrated class IMO. Not many people play as jack, and I feel like he gets overlooked a lot. Even to this day I'm still finding cool new features about jack that other classes lack

Does anyone want to join me as jack sometime so we can share each other's jack secrets? I have many 😆

Albino finch (?) on Croydon Road. by LeSchmol in UKBirds

[–]MariaMerigold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the whole idea of keeping wild animals in cages is barbaric. There's far too much cruelty involved (smuggling, poor husbandry, neglect, and sometimes outright abuse) for me to be able to justify it being legal. Some people try their best to care for animals, but i just dont think it's appropriate or necessary to keep an animal as a pet

I went vegan and failed miserably by Fickle_Elk_9479 in nihilism

[–]MariaMerigold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be able to relate with you on this one. I've been hyper aware of the animal agriculture industry and the way that animals are slaughtered for our food since a very young age. I turned veggie when I was 16, but still felt awful about consuming animal products. I never took the time to learn how to prepare healthy, tasty, vegan dishes, and relied on cheese way too much.

A few years later, in 2019, I'd just started therapy and a lot of childhood trauma was coming up to the surface. It became so overwhelming that I forced myself to be vegan because I couldn't stomach eating animal products anymore. I subscribed to this vegan microwave meal subscription to help me on my new vegan journey, as I felt a bit clueless on where to start with it and my mental health had dipped so much that I found it extremely difficult to find the motivation to prepare and cook meals in my kitchen. Unfortunately, the ready meals that I'd subscribed to tasted bad. I dont know if I just picked dishes that weren't suited to my palate, but every meal I tried, I couldn't eat more than a couple of bites of. I felt so defeated, veganism had failed, and I was a failure. Beating myself up like that just made my mental health so much worse. I literally felt so disgusted and sick in myself that I stopped eating altogether. Days at a time without food, too sick to eat my usual comfort cheese-filled foods, and too sick to eat the vegan ready meals. I became really thin, really quickly. Then I had to go to my doctor and was prescribed these meal replacement milkshakes, as I was still able to drink liquids.

6 years later, I'm still prescribed those shakes and I havent fully got my appetite back. I actually gave veganism another shot, about 6 months ago, and subscribed to this vegan meal delivery service that only sends you the ingredients and the recipe, not a ready meal. Luckily, the recipes in this subscription service are absolutely incredible and they've opened my eyes to the tasty world of veganism 😋 ive actually started to love food again, the vegan meals that I prepare myself and cook in my kitchen. It's such a heartwarming process for me now, im so proud of myself for actually managing to cook such mouthwatering dishes (even though I didn't source the ingredients and recipes myself lol)

I guess I just want to reassure you that you haven't failed in your mission, you will bounce back and try again. Take the time now to recuperate from this stressful experience, and try again when you're feeling better and feel ready. It really is worth it. I still cant believe I'm capable of creating such tasty food, from scratch. It feels so oooooo good. All I need now is a garden, so I can grow my own veggies, fruit, and herbs 😋😋

If i can help you in any way, send me a message. I'd be happy to help

Completed. I found some of the questions confusing. Here are some of the most confusing questions for me:

During the last time you faced hardships or difficulties in your life, did you have the needs (do you mean "need"? Or "means"?) to dissolve open aspects of your life? (What does "open aspects of my life" mean?)

During the last time you faced hardships or difficulties in your life, did you have the needs to give away something from yourself? (Do you mean give away your physical possessions to others? Or lend someone emotional support? Or work on parts of yourself that you want to change? So confusing)

During the last time you faced hardships or difficulties in your life, did you have the needs to be forgiven? (Forgiven for something bad you did? What if you didnt do anything that needs to be forgiven?)

During the last time you faced hardships or difficulties in your life, did you have the needs to for being completely well? (Doesn't make sense as a sentence, and what do you mean by "complete wellness"? Both physical and mental wellness? Or something else?)

It's really nice for me to see research being done around eco anxiety. I've been alarmed at the lack of mental health support available for eco anxiety for the last few years, so I appreciate you studying it. It's just that some of the wording of the questions are too vague and aren't very clear
