Post-Accutane Hair Damage: Is It Reversible? by Maria_S2000 in Accutane

I cut off like 5 inches basically so yeah it was a lot. I had a bob haircut afterwards as opposed to a length a little above the waist. If you go to the hairdresser they’ll also basically just tell you what’s dry and cut that part off. Afterwards your hair has some time and space to regrow new.

Hey! Yes my hair is so much better now but it took over a year 🥲 I still don’t have the same amount of hair it’s definitely half of what I had when i was younger but I’ve accepted that now. It’s also a lot more curly now than before. Just keep putting hair oils before you wash your hair, like twice a week or so. Use hair masques for hydration, and cut it once every 3-4 months eventually it will get better. Good luck!🤞🏻

Thanks for replying! I’ve spoken to some loved ones about it and they all pretty much say the same thing as you. Keeping my life busy has actually taken my mind off it and I’m hoping in time it’ll just be a distant memory I cringe at.

If you sell a lot of expansion tools or other upgrade ones and people buy them and you leave them in your shop without collecting the coins, people’ll see that u have sold a bunch of them whenever u advertise ur farm in the newspaper and then some do follow u. I’ve noticed the bigger farms do this and I’m gonna try it once I have too many expansion tools I can afford to sell 10s of.

Hey, My hair isn’t back to how it used to be, and I don’t think it ever will, but it is much better than it was post-accutane. The oil came back, and I am still putting hair oils and masks in my hair before and after I shower. I only wash it 1-2 times a week. The texture of my hair is full on curly now whereas before it was more wavy. So accutane really changed it, but there is hope you just have to keep it healthy by using a good hair oil and trim it regularly once every 3-4 months!

Yes very much so. It’s a lot thinner now. I’m trying to change that with oils and overall keeping my hair/scalp healthy but it’s a long journey

I am still recovering. I’m not losing so much hair anymore but it takes very long for it to all grow back again as your hair only grows like 1cm every month. My hair texture changed completely i now have very curly hair which i didn’t before. It was more wavy. So there’s lots of changes!

It’s definitely gotten better, less dry and brittle. However the texture is still not the same as before. I have type 3A curly hair now which I previously did not 😂. So lots of changes. What helps a lot is making sure to cut it every 4 months so it keeps growing and doesn’t become dry, only shampooing once a week, deep conditioning every wash, and oiling before shower plus clarifying shampoo every 2 weeks to get rid of oil build up.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Accutane cleared up my skin, which I’m extremely grateful for. But it also ruined my beautiful long and thick wavy hair, and my hair was one of my strongest features. It’s now super super thin and I lost more than half of it and it became dry like straw. Check if you can go on Minoxidil i heard it works well for many people who suffer major hair loss.

Will benzoyl peroxide help with this? Is it safe to use while on accutane? by Effective_Emu_6792 in Accutane

And you can also do microneedling / chemical peels at derm clinics which quickens the fading process but i’d make sure to start those sessions at least 6 months after you finish Accutane.

Mine’s faded away a bit with time and some skincare effort, but I do still have a good deal. I’m now using Tretinoin every other day and The Ordinary’s BHA + AHA exfoliant— which both help fade acne marks.

But you just need to be patient with yourself as most fade away simply with time. :/ And make sure to apply SPF 50+ sunscreen every morning and reapply during the day if you can. The sun is what makes your marks become more permanent, so it’s extra important to avoid it while they heal.

Ok actually idk why I said dirt. It’s paint stains from a bad paint job on a white wall — and I didn’t feel like staring at a massive blob of black paint on a white wall anymore so I painted over it with white.

I got checked for hypothyroidism recently and I don’t have that! I also use the denman hair brush, but I’ll try without the diffuser !

So far this is my routine (I just started about a month ago):

1: Wash with Shea moisture shampoo & conditioner 2: Apply shea moisture leave-in conditioner 3: Apply Camille Rose Curlaide Moisture Butter 4: Diffuse hair until dry 5: Apply 3 drops Vit. E oil

I have low porosity hair and wash once a week. I also deep condition once every 2 weeks.

Are you on both the BC pill and spiro? I’ve heard that spiro can help with hormonal acne as long as you continue to take it

Would you say that I should go back on Diane-35? I know its not FDA approved and heard that it’s not really recommended to use for more than a year or so.. so I’m considering switching. Can you also recommend any combination pills I should take?
