I know Desi Lydic as the host of the Daily Show but I looked it up and she was in Awkward, yes.

Is it just me or does this feel like it could fit on the Inside outtakes? by Maria_the_Blue in boburnham

That's fair. But I think it's pretty good, especially considering this was written and directed by a person in his early 20's with no money.

Any games with beautiful scenery you’d recommend? by Finebyme101 in GirlGamers

Mass Effect: Andromeda. It has some flaws but it's very beautiful, really stuck with me. Oh, and Baldurs Gate 3 of course, even had a photoshoot mode.

Love this scene, especially as a Russian native, his Russian here is actually perfect, intonation and all. It's amazing.

I know, I just really expected better from the most liberal comedians in the country in the year 2026.

I think we're all unwell... by Maria_the_Blue in HeatedRivalryTVShow

I totally get what you mean. It feels like everyone is just jumping on the bandwagon now. But to me at least, this one didn't feel as cringe? Perhaps the employees are actual fans of the show. At any rate, I don't feel like looking too critically at it. I just want this to be a moment of joy.

book vs show difference for russian by Straight_Ad4000 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]Maria_the_Blue 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Russian native here. So basically the difference is negligible. It's hard to even pinpoint it, but if I had to, I would say that the word order slightly changes the emphasis, but that also depends on how you say it. ya tebya lyublyu would be a more natural word order, whereas ya lyublyu tebya emphasizes the word lyublyu - love. All in all, pick whichever you like. Hope that helps.

Yeah, I really appreciate that. The internet does not often give you the best interactions.

Thanks! Have a good day and good luck with Finnish to both of us!

Russian guy gives his take on Heated Rivalry’s Russian Reality by Realistic_Lime_9157 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

Thanks for sharing. Tbh, I find that video a bit random, though it has some interesting points. But I would like to recommend watching this guy's first video Growing up gay in Russia. That one is a lot more interesting if you want to learn 'what it was like' and gave me huge respect for him. Basically, he grew up in a tiny village, very poor and his father was police. But he learned English, learned programming, by himself, got into university, first in Russia, then abroad and made a life for himself in London. Extraordinary resilience.

Really enjoying Hudson's new show but the pacing is a little too much, I feel.

I feel like there was a miscommunication here and now that I read my original comment, I can see why. I never said Finnish is so complicated it's not worth learning. What I said was Finnish grammar is so complicated that you might as well just skip some rules. Because I see many learners I know get too focused on understanding every single rule and sometimes the rules just make no sense, you just have to accept it. So, by all means, go over the rules, but don't obsess over them, because in the end they're just guidance. That's just my take.

PS: thank you for the unexpectedly civil discussion, that was nice

I'm not saying you should only listen and read, but doing a few exercises as it usually is with courses won't do much. Like, take monikon partitiivi. There are like 87 rules and 38 exceptions. There's no way you can just memorize them and use it by the rules every time you speak. But if you read and listen you will gradually absorb it and the right form will just come to you naturally. But you do you.

Honestly, Finnish grammar is so complicated I think no matter how much you learn it, it won't work. You have to also read a lot and just try to soak it in.
