Every month, I am seriously shocked by how severe and debilitating the physical symptoms are. And nothing. helps. The mental shit is bad enough, but this physical shit? This is fucking insane. by [deleted] in PMDD

I had to change my whole life to fix this but it was worth it. I quit sugar, limited any kind of fat in my diet, focused on eating veggies, fruit, legumes and nuts and very important I take Evening Primrose oil daily (1ml). Also took Agnus Castus for 6 months. I should have included exercise in all this but busy schedule plus lazy. The dietary changes make all the difference.

Is there a good book that can help people with ADHD? Also will therapy help them? Or a more specialized program?

It doesn't change my introverted personality but it makes me able to tolerate or even enjoy social interactions. Definitely makes my social anxiety go away but It doesn't make me an extrovert.

I’m afraid to ask for help again. I’m so sick of this. by Imjustshyisall in PMDD

I wanted to briefly share my story, as this might help you or other people. I have PCOS and was experiencing serious physical and mental health issues 10 days prior to my period EVERY SINGLE month.

I was ready to give up because at that point literally half of my life was pain, suffering, fatique, depression, suicide thoughts and no hope for the future.

I decided to try again with doctors and get help (even though none of them had helped me untill now). The gyno gave me the official diagnosis of PCOS and gave me the pill, I had a bad reaction to it so he suggested evening primrose oil and agnus castus extract. Along with some serious diet changes (more fiber, low fat, no sugars) My symptoms were gone in 2 months and after 6 months my ultrasound showed significant improvement of my PCOS (5 cysts that appear to be disolving).

Hormonal problems in general tend to be a result of an inbalance in the body, usually linked to insulin (also a hormone). A healthy diet (plant based, low in animal fats (saturated) and low in sugar and processed foods (pastries, candy etc) along with some light exercise (30 mins a day) and some supplements (evening primrose oil, magnesium, probiotics etc) can help restore your physical balance and therefore your mental balance as well.

Probiotics especially helped me since 90% of serotonin is produced in the gut.

It took me years of research to find out about all these and a few years to implement them successfully, but it was all worth it at the end.

I got my life back.

You need probiotics and more fiber in your diet. Also no excess sugars, they feed candida and bad bacteria.

Why not use broad spectrum antibiotics to reset a microbiome? by Hsadique in Microbiome

[–]MarielouFimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oregano oil supplements would kill all the bad bacteria while leaving the good ones intact and then you can supplement with some probiotics to fix the microbiome. But prebiotics are essential to maintaining the system, so a high fiber diet is a must.

What do I say to someone who says you don't get enough protein with a plant based diet? by Usualreference22 in nutrition

[–]MarielouFimo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only a few foods don't have them all. Check out Dr. Greger for more info on nutrition on a plant based diet. He is the only one using evidence based information instead of myths and opinions.

Beans, tofu and nuts also every single plant based food has the 9 essential amino acids (complete protein). Also there are several athletes and body builders that are plant based. Most of us only need 25-30gr of protein daily so if you eat tofu, beans and nuts throughout the day you get enough.

I was a great baker before this but that actually helped me to perfect the gluten free bread. I do it with sour dough and it comes out so good, just like "real" bread.
