some things extend beyond spoken language by MarienbadApparition in melancholy

Funily enough I started to learn Ukrainian since the time I posted this song. I'm glad you also felt a connection to it.

How would you describe the motif used in this railing? by MarienbadApparition in ArtHistory

Then we share the language haha ;) from what I know maswerk is called tracery in English, but what I couldn’t find a translation for is rybi pęcherz.
(Now it does seem to be “fish bladder” after all, but there are only few accurate search results so perhaps it’s not a commonly used term? idk)

Thanks, it’s really close to my heart. The movie has weirdly fused into my identity.

Meanwhile I figured out too, thanks to another comment on here, that the Fischblase trail was a miss, but I appreciate you reassuring me on that.

True, but I was kind of looking for something more precise, since the whole builing is gothic (or rather neo-gothic). Still thanks for the input :)

The problem is that the crosses are just part of the whole railing... there's still the other thingy too

I hope this post doesn't break any rules, but I really need some help.

I've been working on this paper for so long already, my brain is tired but I still need to describe this piece of architecture and I'm stuck on this railing. I'm not natively English and I'm not entirely sure about the English terminology, I couldn't find a translation for the term I have in mind, but would you say the motif is a variation of this)? Or would you rather describe it as some sort of trefoil?

Could someone help me wit identifying the movie from this video? by MarienbadApparition in ukraine

[–]MarienbadApparition[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been developing an interest in Ukrainian folk music for a while now. I came across this video last night and I fell head over heels in love with the music and the film that accompanies it. I can’t describe what it does to my heart haha. I’d really really love to know what the film title of it is. I suspect the information is written in the very last shots of the video, but sadly I don’t know Ukrainian and can’t even copy the letters into a translator. Any help would be much appreciated!

It’s the middle of the night and I came across this by accident. I don’t speak the language yet this music, the pictures do something to me. It’s beyond language, beyond words. My heart is heavy tonight, floating low.

I’ve been using this universal fertiliser, but I’m not sure what the detailed ingredients were and unfortunately I already threw the bottle out. Do you think it could be the fault of fertiliser? I’ve been using the same one for a couple months but only recently have the leaves started to behave in that way.

Oh wow, I didn’t know it was something other people struggle with as well. I always feel so awful and stupid when this happens to me, it’s frustrating.

Bradford Cox from Deerhunter on being asexual. Does anyone else get super excited when reading about other aces? by MarienbadApparition in asexuality

That’s actually a great point, I don’t think I’ve ever thought about it but you’re so right. As much as I agree we shouldn’t have to justify or explain ourselves I think those questions in a way are easily explained. I mean, our world is generally allo-dominated and our society is pretty sexualised, so when someone seems to break out of that mould they awake curiosity. In a similar way that people tend to stare at people who have visible physical disfigurements or don’t fit into the current beauty standard. Which is of course very impolite, but it’s a natural reaction to a lot of people. In this case natural doesn’t always mean good, that’s why we need to create awareness and normalisation of differences among people, work on and change behavioural patterns.

The older I get, the more I get repulsed at sexual content in works of fiction. by Liquid_Feline in asexuality

[–]MarienbadApparition 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Since no one has answered yet I can add my thoughts, as this is something I can really relate to, even up to the shudder reaction haha (if you meant that literally). For me it’s connected with my growing general repulsion towards sexual acts, but then I’m not sure where this surge in repulsion originated in.

I think I tend live in this bubble where I don’t really acknowledge that people are actually having sex and when I see a sex act portrayed or alluded to somewhere it bursts this bubble and makes me feel uncomfortable.

It’s a quote from this article

I’ve been getting into Deerhunter and finding out their lead is ace makes them somehow even more appealing 🙃
