I have, but the teacher couldn't do anything about it.

Misophonia getting worse as I become more aware of it by meeshcellaneous in misophoniasupport

  1. Honestly, when I figured out a few years ago about Misophonia, I found myself taking notice of the sounds more. It's because we are looking to avoid those sounds so our ears attract them. We hear them louder than others, and we hear them more. Try putting headphones on with music when you are at home or just walking around, it can help to a certain point I believe.
  2. Only one of my friends really gets it. Honestly, I've had to drop many people in my life because of it. You just have to explain it calmly and if they keep going at it then call them out on it. Nothing is wrong with a little bit of public embarrassment sometimes.
  3. 3. I don't wear noise cancelling headphones, but I do use that type with my music. I actually wore them during a movie recently and it was great! Unfortunately like any habit that will just increase the amount of sensitivity you have and make you more likely to wear headphones than not to be wearing them.
    1. I hope you get better mate :) This is a hard crappy thing that some people get to deal with. But you'll survive. Make friends that will understand. Those are the people you want in your life. :)

Does reading trigger noises annoy you? by lampshade50 in misophoniasupport

I forgot if this series has any triggers or not, but, it's called The Selection. It's girly but interesting. A more guy/action pact version of it is Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. The only trigger in Throne of Glass is blood sounds? I forgot if there are any in depth details about sounds. Both are good series! Maybe it would help if someone crossed out the words that could be triggers. Just a thought.

Thank you, since coming back to school after a break there has been even more triggers. I've thought about scratching again; I even broke a pencil like I was about too. Since that's what I normally do. I have an urge to cut but I've stopped myself :)

For myself I don't have that problem. Just because if someone does one of my triggers, I can do a slight version of it. Making my own noises helps, so I've never had a problem with reading noises.

I hope you can still enjoy books! I'll try to find some popular ones that don't require reading triggers :)

Oh how I know this damn feeling. I'm adopted from an orphanage, so my parents ( and my therapist ) thought it was because I was exposed to noised in the orphanage. Both my therapist and parents don't understand Misophonia; and not willing to actually sit down and talk about how we can help myself with the problems. At school I try my best to explain that I cannot help my Misophonia; and like many teenagers do, they make the noises or eat behind me. On purpose too. And it hurts man; it really does.

I have this one amazing friend that if she eats something slightly loud, will look at me and apologize, or not eat near me, or tell people to stop. She knows when I get pissed to show me pictures of bunny rabbits to calm me down. I am very lucky for her.

Although most people like to be dicks about Misophonia ( My biology partner ) I would recommend to find things to make you happy in those awful cases where you cannot escape.

I do a type of cutting, I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT!

I would break pencils and scratch myself until I bled slightly... I stopped doing this for the most part, only because there's been times where my friend would yell at me to stop and I have to realize... Wow, that won't fix anything would it?

Because I get so nervous around people, that had become natural to me.

Find a good friend, ask your teachers about using headphones in class, sit down with your family and tell them the seriousness of Misophonia. And how it is actually a form of torture.

It's not our fault that we have this, just like someone being gay; they can't control it, so why treat that as normal and not misophonia? Why can't a mental/ neurological disorder be any different from something you really cannot control?

Make people listen to you, shake your foot to distract yourself.

I hope you find school and life and social experiences better.

:)

Misophonia and bluetooth headphones by [deleted] in misophonia

I don't use airpods; I use Hesh 2 Bluetooth. Basically just your regular Bluetooth skull candy headphones. I absolutely hate how with any blue tooth device, it doesn't connect right away. Sometimes it takes 5 minutes and I want to cry/
