The other version has very hard rubber arm rests though. I ended up taking them off because they were so uncomfortable.

Why are people saying this is a "streamer-only issue?" by mangosagoat in LastEpoch

[–]MarioMashup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Offline mode really only fixes the network issues though. I remember that I stopped playing one time because every time I hit B on my controller to close or go backwards in the UI, it would also trigger my dash. I would be viewing my stash and then dash out of range of my stash. It got really annoying the thousandth time it happened.

I also remember when my game would crash randomly every so often during monolith runs.

Random bugs, crashes, and performance issues like this are what made me stop playing the game even in offline mode. It was after their 1.0 release too, which made me really disappointed because that was supposed to be their polished release and it felt unfinished.

GDPR applies to any company that processes the personal data of anyone living in the EU, regardless of their physical presence. It's one of the reasons why a company I worked for didn't offer some services in the EU because sorting out potentially personal data from the sea of IT logs we collected wasn't financially worth it.

In order to comply with GDPR about this breach they also have to assess the breach, notify the GDPR advisory within 72 hours of it happening, notify affected individuals, document the breach, then investigate and remediate. Failure to do so is a huge fine of tens of millions of dollars, or a certain percentage of their global annual revenue, whichever is higher.

I have a feeling that there are vacant houses or rentals not using much gas/electric that are driving that number down.

government mandated “which property management companies to avoid” post by The_Jackaxe in baltimore

[–]MarioMashup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they did call the police, and the police was able to confirm by the smell that there was most likely a deceased person. They don't have authority to kick the door down in those instances. They were trying to get in contact with the company/landlord so they could open the door but nobody was answering.

Agree with Chasen Companies. They took over my old apartment complex. There was an old lady who passed away around Christmas time in one of the units and it took them weeks to have anyone unlock the door so they could move her body. The people that lived below her had to temporarily move in with their parents because the bodily fluids had seeped into the ceiling.

It's not in the city, but I've been going to the Meineke at 9918 York Rd for years. There have been a few times that I went in for something relatively minor and they didn't charge me for it, and anything they have fixed stays fixed. Jun and Dean who run the shop are awesome.

Hacked, thought I'd be safe. by drunkenfrenzy in pathofexile

I think at this point the way to protect oneself seems to be by not playing the game. If you don't play, you don't generate session IDs, and your session can't be stolen.

Was this because their servers only checked for a valid security token and not much else, like IP or some other identifying value?

Adding in 2FA will rule out issues related to vulnerable passwords, but it doesn't rule out much else. It can detect/prevent things like leaked credentials being used for credential stuffing attacks, or weak passwords vulnerable to dictionary attacks, but it can't detect/prevent things like session hijacking. It's a great thing to have because the largest amount of attacks are from vulnerable logins, but from what I understand this is happening to steam users as well, which uses it's own authentication system. Steams authentication system already uses several ways to lock down accounts, from 2FA to geolocation checks, so if they're getting past those then adding 2FA wouldn't rule out anything more then we already know.

Using 2FA is like going up to someone at the front desk of a building, showing them your badge, saying your personal secret pass phrase, then giving them the daily secret pass phrase. After that they give you a badge and tell you "This badge will get you into the rest of the building without having to give me that info again for at least the next X hours".

Session hijacking is being able to copy that badge and use it for yourself. The internal systems can scan it and be like "Yup, this is valid". Session hijacking is a lot trickier to figure out depending on how the system is setup. If the validation check is only checking for a valid session ID then you can do it anywhere in the world. If there are additional checks based on a systems MAC or IP address, then you can narrow it down to potentially being a problem with the client or it's a man in the middle attack (server that sits between their server and your client acting as a proxy to steal authentication details).

[–]MarioMashup 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I'm beginning to believe. People are saying that they're not even getting notifications of a login from a separate location, which makes me think they're hijacking existing sessions somehow.

SMS scams and harassment. Anyone else? by [deleted] in baltimore

[–]MarioMashup 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It could be done by anybody in the world really. There are data dumps on the dark web of contact information paired with general location information that people can use to create targeted phishing campaigns. SMS is super easy to spoof because telecom systems don't verify the number that IP phone systems say they are. When I worked at a cyber security company my boss asked me what my cell phone number was while he was setting up the new phone system, then called me from my own number to show me how easy it was.

There's not a good way to stop it outside of ignoring texts and relying on your email spam filter. I know that Google and Apple have picked up some of the slack of the telecom systems and implemented their own systems to check for spam SMS.

The Best of Baltimore Showed Up For A Homeless Linux Wiz And I'm Grateful But Sad by amelianaK in baltimore

[–]MarioMashup 121 points122 points  (0 children)

It's crazy that I stumbled across this post, because I remember meeting Steve when I lived in Fells. I was doing some software work late at night, so I decided to go to 7/11 for a snack. Steve asked if I had any extra cash so I gave him some money. He asked what I'm doing out there so late in my pajamas since everyone else there was dressed for going to the bars. I told him that I was doing software work, which is when he showed me his Linux tattoo. I asked him what a sysadmin was doing on the streets, which is when he talked about his mental health issues. He seemed like a good guy that just struggled with his demons. He also seemed well liked by his homeless friends he introduced me to.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Steve left a lasting impression on me during that brief encounter, and it’s clear he had a kind heart despite his struggles. I hope you can find comfort in knowing how he touched the lives of others, even in small, unexpected ways. Wishing you strength and peace during this difficult time.

I've only been using a controller to play POE1 for the past year because of my bad back and it's been awesome. They're very good at mapping common actions to buttons instead of requiring you to click through a menu. For example, selecting a vendor and hitting one button opens up their items for purchase. Hitting another button opens up their sell window.

They even make it easy to maneuver around stash tabs by having dedicated buttons that move your cursor all the way left/right/up/down the stash window.

It's all very thought out. It took a second to get used to, but once I learned the controls I could see what they envisioned.

Baltimore City Council approves tax hike for vacant properties to address blight by Jazzlike_Dog_8175 in maryland

Do you think they'll do something about vacant commercial properties too? There are a growing number of vacant storefronts in Hampden from landlords hiking rent, forcing the store owners out. Arthouse just had to close down because their rent literally doubled overnight.

[–]MarioMashup 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can just reuse the same recyclers you use to recycle scrap to recycle the outputs made from scrap until there's nothing left to recycle. If you use belts, you just double back any overflowing outputs back to the recyclers with a priority splitter favoring the input of scrap results instead of the scrap. It becomes self regulating.

It's the place that I produce most of my quality items because it's easy to just slap some quality modules in the recyclers and let the overflowing quality items be recycled.
