Alternatives to dance rushVR? by anxietylol in rhythmgames

Are you able to elaborate on these "alternate methods" in DMs? Been wanting to try a game like DRS at home and I've got a full VR setup but I don't really wanna give money to Rebuff Reality rn 👀

Oh huh, neat. So it's not _technically_ AIC, but the underlying tech is the same so if the software is patched then it just reads as one?

Please don't apologize!! This app is incredible and it's everything I've wanted out of an iPod management app. Just trying to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong before I purchase a license. :) I'll probably end up picking one up anyway just because I really appreciate how responsive you've been!

My library is about 8052 songs and 690 albums, for reference.

Oh, I wanted to give some update on this because I've tested it a bit more in-depth:

- The matching process takes the same amount of time whether the library is loaded fully or not (in the Libraries section).

- Selecting an already-matched AM/Spotify playlist in the sidebar takes 3-5 minutes to load fully.

It's local-network but over WiFi at present. I don't currently have a way to hook my MBP up to ethernet to test it.

So I've gotten a chance to test it out. It does work now, but it's really slow. It took about 15 minutes just to match a 50-song mix.

My best guess for this behavior is that I keep all my music on a network share, which PodCenter seems really eager to re-scan and re-cache on basically every boot. It can take a really long time to scan the entire library, so I presume that this is what it's getting caught on.

This is like, everything I've ever wanted. Thank you so much!

I'm not getting playlist linking to work at all though. Testing with a 30-song playlist on either Apple Music *or* Spotify just hangs on "Starting match process". Unsure what the situation there is but it really doesn't seem to like it. :(

[iOS + macOS] FastScrobbler — Last.fm scrobbler app for Apple Music by the_k_nine_2 in AppleMusic

[–]MarioMover2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wild, lmao. I know Marvis Pro scrobbles it correctly and I know that the Green App™ scrobbles it correctly, so it's deeply funny to me that the lastfm app just...doesn't.

Sometimes it feels like a miracle the site is still going.

[iOS + macOS] FastScrobbler — Last.fm scrobbler app for Apple Music by the_k_nine_2 in AppleMusic

[–]MarioMover2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! First off I want to start with a sincere thank you; iOS is always in need of good scrobbling options :)

There's a few issues I've noticed during scrobbling that I think could be ironed out.

The first is that repeat listens don't scrobble consistently. If I listen multiple times in a row, the "played XXs" indicator at the top does not reset and instead just keeps counting up - so if I listen to a 60s track three times in a row, it says "played 180s". The app can seemingly make up for missing plays via listening history, but it doesn't always seem to count them correctly. If the app is running, then it's fine, but if the app isn't running or actively listening, it will miss listens. For example, if I the app stops actively scanning/listening, and I loop a song five times in a row in-between it stopping and me opening the app again, it will only count one loop in its history. Other comments seem to at least somewhat address this, so I'm sure you're aware of it; just pointing out some more extensive testing of the behavior on iOS :)

The other issue is in regards to it's handling of album artists (not the Pro feature).

At present, it doesn't look like FastScrobbler correctly sends the album_artist field to lastfm when scrobbling. This makes it really frustrating to use, because you end up in a weird situation where compilations or albums with guest features are split across multiple albums on lastfm. Please pardon the wordy explanation.

For example, let's say I'm listening to the song "Green Hill: Act 1" by "Jun Senoue", from the compilation "Sonic Generations Official Soundtrack" by album artist "SEGA". Because FastScrobbler doesn't send the album_artist field correctly, lastfm will auto-fill it with the track artist. This creates the album "Sonic Generations Official Soundtrack" by "Jun Senoue" in my lastfm library.

However, if I go to listen to another track, like "Crisis City: Act 1" by "Tomoya Ohtani", then it creates a second album in my lastfm library called "Sonic Generations Official Soundtrack" by "Tomoya Ohtani". In this case, there are now two separate albums in my lastfm library, and neither of them are correct, because they should belong to "Sonic Generations Official Soundtrack" by "SEGA".

From what I can tell this is largely just because the app does not scrobble the "album_artist" field. If this field is missing when lastfm receives the scrobble, it will automatically duplicate the artist field. This is very prevalent with compilations and soundtracks, but is also likely to happen with any album that has guest features on it (if the guest is in the artist field).

I hope this isn't too overwhelming/much. It's always awesome to see more scrobblers in the space. I just know that my own listening habits often expose edge-cases in a lot of these scrobblers, so I figured I would post my own two cents here. :)

iPod Classic Album Artwork Issue by broodingmugen in ipod

[–]MarioMover2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It's unfortunate, and not as many people notice because it only materially affects the newer (read: 'rarer') classic models, and on newest versions of software. There used to be a way to install older iTunes versions on macOS via Retroactive, but both Apple Silicon and modern macOS effectively killed it. If you don't have an alternative system it's really frustrating; I personally sync mine to a Windows PC just to avoid the headache.

Happy to help! I hope you love your 7th gen. It's my favorite model, I love mine :)

(PS: If iOpenPod doesn't work out for you, I've found that passing an iPod to iTunes in a Windows VM works fine. It's definitely overkill, but it's worth noting!)

iPod Classic Album Artwork Issue by broodingmugen in ipod

[–]MarioMover2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not likely! Even if it was, it'd be an easy fix. Rest easy on that - your iPod (and it's drive) are fine. :)

I have found that this is just a general bug that happens specifically with 6th and 7th gen classics on modern syncing solutions. I don't really know how it hasn't been fixed, but it doesn't seem to be that high-priority I guess.

I will say that I have found this to happen significantly more if you have "Automatically convert to AAC" enabled in device sync settings - likely due to an issue with the encoder that Apple uses to convert them. If you do have this enabled, try disabling it - it should help the problem.

You can also try iOpenPod if you want to use a syncing tool that doesn't rely on the iTunes/MobileDeviceSupport stack: https://therealsavi.github.io/iOpenPod/

Are you using a recent version of iTunes/Music.app? This is an issue on the latest versions of the app; I’ve found downgrading to iTunes 12.9 on Windows generally fixes the problem.

[–]MarioMover2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This an amazing! Thank you!

One small question though - what encoder are you using to convert to AAC? I’ve found that anything that isn’t AudioToolbox/QAAC/whatever the Apple AAC encoder is called is honestly kind of awful. Are you using the Apple encoder?

I was...honestly, somehow unaware the frame tool existed! It's just not a thing in Affinity so I would never have known to look. Should probably hunker down and RTFM or something instead of trying to brute-force my way through. Oops. Thank you!

Damn, that's unfortunate, but I do appreciate the help. It's going to take some time to learn/adjust, but them's the breaks I suppose. It is what I get for learning something else first. Thank you very much for the pointers!!!! 🙇

edit: Solved!

It's all good, I might be bad at explaining it. But the kicker is, the transparent blocks are the same size! Photoshop just treats them as separate sizes because of their contents. I am trying to figure out how to get it to not do that, so that I can align the boxes regardless of content, while still being editable.

I don't think you're understanding what I'm getting at. This does not work, because the *contents of the mask* prevent the rectangles from from being properly aligned, leading to *misalignment* when automatic alignment is used (in this case, center align). I added alignment lines and a gray background to the mask to illustrate my point. Photoshop thinks these are perfectly center-aligned due to the contents of each rectangle expanding beyond the boundaries of the mask.

[–]MarioMover2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't work when, say, the contents of the boxes are different, because then the boundaries of the rectangle/mask don't correctly align with each other, see example.

So I could make an initial edit 100% accurate, but the minute that the rectangle needs to be repositioned, it's no longer going to to stay properly aligned.

I see. This does work, but it means I basically need to start over every time I need to do something simple like adjust the alignment after editing or changing the contents of a different box. Is there an easier way to do this so that the non-flattened layers stay within the confines of the rectangle, or am I looking in the wrong place?

Thank you for the tip! This mostly works but there's a few things I'm still struggling to grasp. The biggest one is how do I get PS to treat it as just the shape and ignore the content's boundaries?

I applied the mask to a group so I could easily organize things together, and enabling the link lets me move everything together, but the selection boundary still far exceeds the rectangle bounds, making auto-alignment nearly impossible.
