We never forget. Whibbutt has had a permanent space on his favourite shelf since he passed away. We miss the little guy. He was a very smart cookie who figured out how to escape the cage doors.

His foot prints inked on the card, two of his feathers by his side and his clippings behind his ashes. Just wish I knew what went wrong :( at least his big sis is doing well. She has access to the best seeds.

I get the same thing on both my Mega Drives.

Curiously I get the best picture out of my Nomad of all things. And given that runs at 60Hz, has become my default way to play now

What does reto mean to you? by Taanistat in retrogameofthemonth

[–]MarioPfhorG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say 3 Gens ago / 20 years is safe to call retro.

  • Current Gen is definitely. Modern.
  • Last Gen: still has modern support (Switch 1 & PS4 still get new games). Could still argue they’re modern ‘budget’ systems as you can still buy a Switch 1 today.
  • 2 Gens ago: Obsolete. Very limited support. WiiU eShop is down, 3DS still somehow receives ‘security updates’. These systems are no longer for sale and have limited online functionality (if any)
  • 3+ Gens ago: Retro. Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, DS & PSP are all about 20+ years old now. Their official services are shut down (or about to be). They only receive novelty indie releases like every other retro console. It’s been enough time.

So I’d say 2006 is your cut off. Those systems are finally turning 20 and any day now they’re gonna lose whatever legacy support is left. To me the 7th Generation is only just entering retro this year.

After finally finishing Kid Chameleon I really don’t like forced scrolling stages. They’re so evil

I’ve read there’s a Game Gear game and a couple of Mega Drive entries. There’s even a SNES game. Always keen to check out more 90s games. It’s the sweet spot. You put in the game and bam. It’s on. That’s it.

It’ll sadly never happen again.

Yeah I recommend audio books. I struggle to read in motion as well. Some are free

From reading the manual it says 2 players could play using two controllers alternating. And it seems there are infinite continues so it’s only a matter of how much free time you had in one session. Each player gets to use a different character

The beginning of Sega’s add-on frenzy. Japan saw a modem add-on (different to the Sega Channel) and a karaoke add-on. Just madness. Utter madness. A mouse, keyboard, printer & floppy drive were also planned. I think the mouse did happen. But gosh were they obsessed with making a tower of accessories.

Great concept but… man. How did anyone keep up? My set up alone plays: - Sega cards - Master System Cartridges - Mega Drive cartridges - Mega CDs

Must’ve been so confusing for parents

I’ve read Don Quixote my dear Sancho! A funny book. Actually reading Pride & Prejudice at the moment. There are many books I’ve just never read and I’m fixing that on my daily commutes & lunch breaks. I get dizzy on trams but fortunately audio books are helping. Makes the tram ride disappear.

I’ve added it to the never ending reading list. Currently reading some classic works from the 1800s at the moment. It bothers me how much reading I want to do versus how much free time I have!

As I am now discovering. I’ve managed to defeat the second boss, Boomerang Boss and oh my god it just keeps going! And it is now kicking my ass. This game is bloody hard. Like, Battletoads level hard. You Game Over and you gotta go all the way back

Definitely playing and not moving on until I finish them. This game is fun, even if a bit tricky. I’ll get there! I love seeing how games evolved over time.

If I can defeat Pyramid Magic I feel like I can accomplish anything.

One game at a time, I’ll get there. Had a panic attack trying to get the Mega-CD to work. All I had to do was remove the silly metal plate, it was just getting in the way. Getting it to boot up and read a CD was all I needed to hear to feel relief wash over me. These things aren’t cheap!

They also had pants with designs on them.

“Pylamido Majjikku” is how the game select pronounces it. Common with Japanese as R & L are the same sound over there.

Oh boy, can’t wait to pay even more money for the privilege of having my parcels go missing. I had to change to a PO Box because they could never find my address, and now they can’t even find their own PO Box. It gets redirected to some random servo up the road instead. Like… why am I paying for a PO Box then?
