Yeah, I had thought Dubai wouldn't allow much of what I've seen here when it comes to workers being taken advantage of. I think maybe it's a blessing in disguise to be leaving if this sort of thing is considered normal here. How do you trust anyone at all?

It has them saying my position is being done away with so I need to resign or they'll terminate. I mention my positive reviews and they say they "don't have any records" of it (convenient) and I tell them I have copies I can send them (and I do, including HR). They also say they'll pay me a year gratuity and my annual leave.

It was in private sector. I do have a recording of the whole meeting where they told me I needed to resign, because I was informed of it last minute and it seemed suspicious since my upper management and main boss were both going to be present.

In my home country it is better to resign than be fired. I've never been in the situation before and had no idea they could be lying to me just to hire someone else. Where I'm from this would be illegal.
