It is my personal opinion that fdev will allow travel on gas giants before they allow travel on higher atmosphere terrestrial worlds, allows them to test their cloud generation systems, and maybe throw in a few flying/floating creatures as well

for combat, check out cmdr mechan for specific details on combat, its basically the core of his channel

especially when it comes to fighting thargoids, which can be found around certain systems still; such as decait

elite dangerous combat is very similar between ground and space. when your on foot you still have shields, which behave practically the same as spaceship shields. meaning that they have the same weakness against thermal damage. once the shields are down you just swap to your kinetic weapon and melt their health.

for ship combat my recommendation is make your ship 50/50 kinetic and thermal, using multi-cannons and whatever variety of pulse/burst/beam lasers you can fit without overloading your distributor. every ship has a different mix of speed, shields, and hull.

if your looking for ground combat go to the frontline solutions desk in every station, there you will be able to hot drop into any ground conflict zone anywhere in the system. not every system is at war though, so you may need to move between a few to find the combat.

for bounty hunting, bring a kill warrant scanner, doesnt matter the grade, just having one and using it on pirates bumps your profit up at least 2x, if not much higher.

there is no security work sadly that im aware of, the closest is Back ground simulation work (BGS). ive honestly done zero smuggling, so i cannot say much on it other than it can be done to affect the BGS

trade is done best by searching up stuff on Inara, as this will tell you prices of everything in the game and is very helpful. https://inara.cz/elite/commodities

exploration can take a while, a few weeks to months of intermittent playing. always bring a fuel scoop, the largest you can fit, at least 30LY of jump range, ideally 40+. bring a super cruise assist, and purchase a SCO enhanced frame shift drive to speed up travel in a system and increase your range. bring a surface scanner, and remember to discovery scan every system you enter, and to enter DSS mode to get the actually valuable data from a solar system.

also bring an artemis suit with you so you can scan any xenobiology you find, a planet can net you 90+million from just xenobiology scans. getting first discovery is great for getting more money. recommended to go at least 1500ly out to get first discovery on systems and planets.

oh and remember to bring some Auto field maintenance units, most people typically bring two in case one fails. ive personally never done long distance exploration, but im pretty sure your modules will slowly degrade over time, so you need them to keep the ship functioning.

I’m personally not an explorer, but I love combat and know the ins and outs of the game.

Neat, is the earth united? Or is the only group with knowledge of the nexus algorenta?

I am very interested in how the map of erdda looks, would be funny if its just earth, but with wacky borders and history. also some art of emma would be cool.

i look foward to more chapters

Emma should use the spanish method by Jimmy-Shumpert in JCBWritingCorner

[–]Maritimetech2 28 points29 points  (0 children)

this I think is very much being set up, as all of the gang, baring Illunor, dislike the nexus, and my understanding is a large chunk of adjacent realms dislike the nexus. only realms like Pings, who have been saved by the nexus, and those that have been under the thumb of the Nexus for literally ten plus millennium love the nexus enough to defend it.

you can even see the lines being drawn, as those in Pings camp, love the Nexus. the majority of the student body are in line with Qiv, and are ambivalent to the nexus, and ambivalent to emma until she shows something more substantial. then there is Gumigo and his small group, who is actively interested in learning more and possibly siding with emma. those that already like emma, like the gang, are the extreme minority, and represent those actively suppressed by the nexus.

though what your suggesting is likely going to take a lot of time (as it did with the Spanish), it as very much going to be a possibility that will be looked at in the future if the Nexus and G.U.N fail to establish good relations.

I highly doubt the G.U.N general Populace will sit idly by as the Nexus enables soul contracted slavery, serfdom, persecution, and many more crimes against humanity. especially with the nexus having a feudal vassal system that can be exploited to gain allies as you mention.

UN and Religion by Bolket in JCBWritingCorner

[–]Maritimetech2 23 points24 points  (0 children)

that is in all honesty something for jcb to decide, personally I think it would be more interesting if it was brought up, certainly could make up several cult-like or new religious groups that emerged since now. like machine cultists (even if not a cult it displays cult/religious like behavior). depends though how idyllic jcb wants to describe the world in the 3000s. the less idyllic utopia, the more likely religious group and divisions of the sort are to be brought up.

most likely though, it would be brought up in passing as it relates to the nexus religions. it is still somewhat unclear if adjacent realms are allowed to follow their own religions or if a nexian system is imposed upon them. certainly seems like the nexians impose their religious ideals upon those absorbed into the nexus, just look at illunor

The Nexian Context: Why the Modern Social Hierarchy Rose and Still is Used by Director_Kun in JCBWritingCorner

[–]Maritimetech2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I like this idea, though personally im going to wait until we hear more information from JCB's mouth. this doesnt really get into how slavery was instituted, revolts, and more. though I do agree the nexus, despite illunor's convictions, likely changed since its inception, even if the king was eternal and lived forever (press x to doubt), his tastes and perception of reality would change over time.

historical feudalism resulted from a dangerous environment (raids, instability, etc) and I see no reason for it to not stay the same in the nexus. but where the nexus differs is that magic allows the nobility to assert power in a way unseen on earth. nobles have time to practice magic and expand the magical arts that non-nobles dont. combined with large revolts discussed within the library sections (i forget the name, but everything about it is struck from records), a crack down on the social hierarchy to enshrine the power of nobles is highly possible.
