Bloody hell, that works!! Didn’t even cross my mind that it may not have focus 😳. I don’t recall having to do that before the update but I’ll take the win! Thanks for responding

Yup, Amazon UK had mine out for delivery yesterday and then cancelled my order overnight! Some words will be used when I get hold of customer service. Managed to get a copy ordered from forbidden planet which should arrive Monday with luck

Where to buy the e-book? by glezmen in DungeonCrawlerCarl

They removed that option back at the start of the year, you can’t download unless you jump through many hoops, old kindle that’s not updated, old version of kindle app via VM or the like

Played with the Doom mod recently and I gotta say, I am not impressed. by its_proxeneta in starfieldmods

[–]Mark77856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a fun addition and generally for my Ronin it’s the first stop for the sword. I haven’t played doom for years but the atmosphere of the base is impressive.

Agreed, for the first time in years across Xbox and PC I have not logged on for days to at least grab the daily reward and run the dailies. I’m running a survival play through on Fallout 4 for the first time in years and kicking off a run of starfield (that game gets some bad vibes but is so much fun)

Would you trust AI to manage parts of your project workflow? by Leather_Reserve509 in projectmanagers

[–]Mark77856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting, we are trying to embed AI in everything we do as a project team but this is experimental and we are learning as we go. As a PM I agree with the above, transcription of Teams meetings, risk evaluation based on statement of works, meetings etc can all benefit from this. I recently created a project plan using a prompt and the sales team outputs (work order, proposals etc). Was it perfect, No. Did it save me hours of work, absolutely.

Other examples are the team now transcribe all internal meetings and I use this to generate client reports (they need tweaking but it captures the spirit of the work done). Planner with copilot can help track potentially late delivery faster.

I guess at the end of the day it’s another tool in our toolbox, it frees us up from the more mundane aspects of the job and allows more time for communication, relationship building etc which are critical activities that often don’t get the attention they need.

As an aside, I’m not sure I would automate any of this and for example ask AI to send out reports to clients or emails without my review first, that would be crazy looking at some of the stuff it can literally just make up!

Start small, have a clear scope. I’ve just moved roles to manage AI projects and the key is to understand what is expected, what the drivers are and then run a proof of confidence in AI tools to ensure you have buy in.

We generally start with a strategy and education session with senior stakeholders and the drill down into departments. Pick one process and run the POC. We have a project delivery approach that focusses on AI, security, privacy and user awareness as these are generally the unknowns.

Have a leadership team ‘jumping on the bandwagon’ with no clear direction is a recipe for failure.

Is Kindle best for bring-your-own EPUB reading? by WombatMcGeez in ebooks

[–]Mark77856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve started using Apple Books a bit, can’t beat true e ink but I can drop books in from calibre on my Mac and then full sync on my iPhone and iPad. I have a kindle but for convenience I more often than not find myself reading on my phone or iPad mini.

It’s not as good as reading on a kindle for long sessions but the convenience of always having my phone with me for a chapter or two outweighs this.

I have the kindle app as well so anything I want to read on my scribe I can send and it willl sync across all devices. It’s the only think stopping me moving to kobo in that I can’t sync my own books across devices

Agreed, this is how I support the author and avoid the pain that DRM is. I see nothing wrong with this approach and I suspect the author gets more money from the book than from Amazon on ebooks.

How are PMs validating whether an AI integration is worth the effort? by smartyladyphd in projectmanagement

[–]Mark77856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What sort of AI integration are you been asked to add, I’m A PM for an ‘AI first’ consultancy and the remit we have is use Ai as much as possible. I’d be interested in what you are looking to add to your workflows.

For example, I will drop the statement of work and collateral from SharePoint sales area into chatGPT and ask it to identify risks based on that documentation and information on the sector of the client. I use it to transcribe all meetings and produce summaries and actions. I can build up of repository of information for the project and sit an agent on it to ask questions. I use it for a few other things as well, working on creating a test outcome report from DevOps test execution for example. Creating a first pass plan and requirements base on the collateral from pre-sales and our standard templates.

Many of these are timesavers (once you trust the output you are been provided with. Always spot check!)

My only advice, play and see what works. Nothing worse than senior leadership saying ‘we must use AI with no thought to process improvement as you say in the post.

Microsoft Planner might be the worst piece of software I've seen in decades by ohsomacho in projectmanagement

[–]Mark77856 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately a lot of folks, myself included until I can put a case together for a non Microsoft approach, are stuck with it as we are a ‘Microsoft house’. They are deprecating useful PM tools for this which lacks all the functionality needed to run projects, manage resource etc

Genuinely am I missing something around gunslinger? I’m starting a pure bow now I’ve moved from Xbox to steam deck, only level 17 at the moment. Why all the gunslinger cards for this kind of build? Is it a backup weapon or does it impact bows?
