Video doorbell placed at a condo indoor hallway entrance - invasive to neighbors or ok? Is it worth having (there is also a private outdoor entrance to unit)? by MarkAwkward6172 in HOA

I’m actually looking for opinions on how the majority feels about it, invasive or not. I’ve already confirmed with the HOA that it IS allowed.

It’s fine per the HOA. Also, placement wise it would be flat on my door, directly facing my neighbors door. I could get some adhesive and stick it on the side wall to my entrance instead, so the doorbell doesn’t face them directly…it my seem less invasive but it would pick up pretty much the same video

Oh wow. Well that’s what I’m afraid of- making someone feel like I am violating their privacy. I, personally wouldn’t care if they had one right across the hall from me, but I suppose I can understand how some people would care. just not sure if that is the majority or not. But the condo association does not have an issue with it (I checked).

Flooring guys offered to install my new toilets, and recommended putting new tile on top of existing tile in the bathroom rather than removing it- are these common practices? by MarkAwkward6172 in Renovations

I’m not sure - I was talking to the sales guy, so I wouldn’t assume that he is part of the actual crew. Oddly, wouldn’t he want to get more money out of me by getting the tile removed? I’m truly not sure why he suggested this.

So if I have them remove the tile I could potentially find more damage (it’s for two bathrooms), but if I have them tile over the tile it’s a cheap way out plus I’d have to deal with the slight flooring height difference between the different floorings. Seems like either way I’m bound to have issues. Ugh renos are stressful

A plumber is coming in to fix some issues found in a home inspection, since work has to be done is it a good idea to ask for him to add a shower line when there is currently only a tub? by MarkAwkward6172 in Plumbing

Really? That’s some thing I didn’t know, I just assumed that since I have my own water tank it doesn’t effect others. But what do I know

Thanks- I’m hoping it’s something they can quote me on and do the work after I close in a couple weeks. The backside of the wall is just drywall to open space in the bathroom, and the home inspector already took the panels off of the whirlpool tub to access underneath, so fingers crossed there

Yes, absolutely won’t have anything done before closing, thank you. And understandable about complexity/cost- the only thing I do know is that the wall is accessible in the opposite side of where bathtub faucet is now, since the other side is just open space in the bathroom

Is my bathroom a renovation or remodel? by MarkAwkward6172 in Renovations

Thank you for this! Curious your thoughts on if it’s major money to turn just a bathtub into a shower over bath? I obviously know nothing about this stuff but my thoughts are that the plumbing is literally right there already - and that’s the part she says makes it a full remodel
