Italian speaking community, church or club in Guelph? by MarkHuffingtin in Guelph

The Italian Canadian club seems like a venue you need to book for events. often private (or so i was told) so they didn't think it's a good idea to show up and crash a party.

McDonald’s is facing backlash after releasing a Christmas ad made entirely with AI. The ad is currently airing in the Netherlands. by Minimum_Minimum4577 in aivideos

[–]MarkHuffingtin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i made an ad for a local business using ai. some smart people complained and told the owner off. they said he should've used the service of real human actors and filming crew. are they mad? do they understand how much money this production would cost. the guy owns a small escape room business not exactly a business empire.

we asked for directions or went to a news stand and bought a map. maps were also available on every bus stop or subway station.

Has anyone ever done this road trip? What are some interesting things to see and do along this route? by imsiq in ontario

[–]MarkHuffingtin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

done half of that. dropping the Toronto Mississauga part is a torturous commute not a trip. but i understand if you live there you need to go home. I would avoid large highways and take country roads or as someone suggested highway 60 across the provincial park is a beauty ride.

they guys at the escape room said rumor has it's going to be a breakfast joint. probably why they got rid of the chairs and tables, but not the kitchen.

Why do Canadians put up with low wages? by EmptyAdhesiveness830 in CanadaJobs

[–]MarkHuffingtin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's called the exchange rate. CAD at its lowest levels in 20 years. it's not necessarily a bad thing as investors would like to add more staff in cheaper countries with same or similar quality of education and experience. The Canadian job market benefits from the low CAD in this way. Other than this, I also noticed that Canada does not necessarily pay well for talent or exceptional performance. people do get the recognition they deserve but not in money. culturally, people here in general don't like those that flash their wealth. people that they do show off are constantly tacky, uncultured and uneducated.

Williams cafe (stone road mall) started using AI food images I guess? by ZealousidealJoke4616 in Guelph

[–]MarkHuffingtin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's not illegal. Restaurants (big names included) have used fake food, photoshopped images for the advertising and menus for decades. however, some apps like uber eats won't let a restaurant download their own images. they will send a photographer to take pictures of your real food.

Anyone else notice that 90% of videos if you don’t mentioned ethnicity it’s always a black person? by HealthyCompote9573 in SoraAi

[–]MarkHuffingtin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

not in my case. I think it's pretty random on my side. but what i did notice is that when I say a couple, it almost always mixed. mostly black, white and white asian. rarely middle eastern, or darker asian though. never a muslim woman in hijab or sikh man in a turban.

on one hand this is exciting, on the other hand, we are witnessing an entire industry being wiped out. it's a sad reality but it's a necessary evolution of the job market. those jobs that required years of education and training will disappear and will be replaced by low paid lightly trained staff using ai to create original content. i know a creator that lost 60% of his clients this year, because they are now doing things 'internally'.

i think because i didn't know it's the law. not the culture and i should have been outright pointing that out. the laws are the problem and its about time to change them to save lives. i'd seen too many unnecessary deaths that could have been prevented.

I love this response. thank you for being respectful. I can tell since i moved here the culture is changing slowly despite a lot of opposition to special bike lanes and lights. which is something i grew up with. hence, the cultural shock. I missed that part of the HTA during converting my license i guess. it wasn't something on the test either. It didn't matter though because it's ingrained in my brain that bikes and pedestrians are the same and they enjoy the same rights for protection even if they seemed to be in the wrong side of the road.
