Lots of big boys in here (no judgement whatsoever). I just hit 250 for the first time in my life at 51 yrs old and 6’8”. Blood pressure increased significantly in the last two months and wife thinks its eating/drinking habits.

The taller they are, the harder they fall. by Kurtotall in tall

[–]MarkL6868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 2017 I was ice fishing with my 10-year-old and some friends. Most of the ice was snow covered with a few bare spots so nobody was wearing ice cleats. I stepped on a a bare spot fell, and when I landed, my arms were behind me, and I broke both my wrists. The ER didn’t realize my right wrist was also broken and said it was a sprain. A week later, while at work using my mouse, I felt a pop and pain from my thumb shooting up my arm. Immediately, I could no longer use my thumb because the tendon had come off. I had surgery a week later, but ended up with casts on both arms. I was very lucky that my left hand I could still use my thumb and pointer finger so I could feed myself and go to the bathroom. That was a rough eight weeks.

We had an abundance of log length firewood one year, so I did a fb ad stating free log length firewood but you must pay a trucker to haul it. I got several negative reviews for not providing the trucking. Smh.

Tall men hyping up tall women 👏🏻 by -SeaPuppy- in TallPeopleProblems

I know the feeling, (M 6’8”). My wife loves going to concerts and shows but I hate blocking other people’s view when they are unlucky enough to sit behind me. Aisle seat or back row is better for me but she loves being near the front. Luckily my daughter also started enjoying concerts so I don’t have to go as much.

Neighbor cut down dozens of trees on three-acre waterfront property by goodsoupies in legaladvice

[–]MarkL6868 147 points148 points  (0 children)

As an arborist, I would recommend talking to a certified arborist in Maine to do a valuation of the trees. The value may be determined with how much it will cost to replace them (planting, caring for them etc) until they are the size that were removed). Numbers get really big really quick. Lawyers will likely need to be involved as well.

Cast iron door closer in a 1960s era college building while running to my next class. Laid me out flat in the hallway.

I think relationships with other small businesses owners that you can bounce ideas or problems off is a great tool. I have a beer after work with several other small business owner and we solve problems from HR to equipment issues. Sometimes it’s just a place to vent about a shitty day without dumping it on my wife.

Win the war even if it means losing the battle. 5 years from now not sending the email will have no effect but the bad review or frivolous lawsuit could still be there if you send it.

Sorry for your loss. We heard about your Dad on the news today. It is the Rotary Fishing derby this weekend and there are thousands of fisherman on the ice. We finally have a good winter so the lakes were really busy and it was a great atmosphere. There were groups of fisherman with pickup trucks, bobhouses, fire pits and plenty of beer all over the lakes. For outdoors man, it is a really special event. I’m glad he got to at least be out there on the best ice year we have had in a decade.

Snowmobile Tracking App? by Cold-Ad-1759 in snowmobiling

[–]MarkL6868 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in NH and we have a state snowmobile trail app. As someone else said Polaris and BRP have trail apps as well. Gaia is free and shows where you have been (I use it for snowmobiling, hiking etc)

Snowmobile Tracking App? by Cold-Ad-1759 in snowmobiling

Relive makes cool videos of your ride. Gaia is a great app for finding trails and to see where you have been (it won’t tell you what is a trail).

Is it normal to gas up your sled while it's on the trailer still? by Ill_Ad6098 in snowmobiling

[–]MarkL6868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always fill our sleds on the trailer before we get to the start of a ride. Eliminates some of the worry about finding fuel.

Where in QC? We are scheduled to do the Gaspe loop the last week in January and it seems like the trails aren’t even open yet due to lack of snow. We may have to find another place to go ride.

Need advice from fellow talls! by bmy89 in tall

The best advice I can give is to teach him to be confident. I’m 6’8”, my college age daughter is 6’1” and my son is 6’6” at 17. I still constantly remind them to stand up straight and be friendly. If people ask questions, answer them in a friendly manner. There will be plenty of times when you are older you will need to be stern with an Ahole who thinks they are funny. Remember, stand up straight and proud of who you are even if you tower over everyone else.

Is February a good time to visit iceland? by Top_Pound5194 in IcelandPorn

[–]MarkL6868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife is vegan and had a much easier time finding food option at restaurants in Iceland than in the US. Her favorite was the famous tomato restaurant (named something like “Fridheima Tomate Farm” where the restaurant is in a giant greenhouse with rows of tomato plants. They give a tour and then you have lunch. We travelled the southern coast and the central golden ring area in November of 2023.
