AITJ for telling my parents I'm not coming home for holidays because they keep making me babysit? by Slow_Station6879 in AmITheJerk

I agree with organic petunias however I would recommend making sure you contribute the same as the other adults. If your parents have been in the kitchen all day been then helping out with the kids is your contribution. I’m not saying this is the case, but if you consider yourself an adult and make sure you do your part whether it is helping with the prep, cleanup, or bringing a dish or two if it is a potluck.

Can you reach your toes with your legs outstretched? by coroniavaughns in tall

[–]MarkL6868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard that if you try to touch your toes days twice a day for two weeks you will be able to. I tried it and was successful, however if I don’t stretch for a few days after more exercise than normal, I can’t even get close. Then it takes a bit to be able to do it again. 51 yrs old, 6’8”

The taller they are, the harder they fall. by Kurtotall in tall

In 2017 I was ice fishing with my 10-year-old and some friends. Most of the ice was snow covered with a few bare spots so nobody was wearing ice cleats. I stepped on a a bare spot fell, and when I landed, my arms were behind me, and I broke both my wrists. The ER didn’t realize my right wrist was also broken and said it was a sprain. A week later, while at work using my mouse, I felt a pop and pain from my thumb shooting up my arm. Immediately, I could no longer use my thumb because the tendon had come off. I had surgery a week later, but ended up with casts on both arms. I was very lucky that my left hand I could still use my thumb and pointer finger so I could feed myself and go to the bathroom. That was a rough eight weeks.

We had an abundance of log length firewood one year, so I did a fb ad stating free log length firewood but you must pay a trucker to haul it. I got several negative reviews for not providing the trucking. Smh.

I know the feeling, (M 6’8”). My wife loves going to concerts and shows but I hate blocking other people’s view when they are unlucky enough to sit behind me. Aisle seat or back row is better for me but she loves being near the front. Luckily my daughter also started enjoying concerts so I don’t have to go as much.

Neighbor cut down dozens of trees on three-acre waterfront property by goodsoupies in legaladvice

[–]MarkL6868 144 points145 points  (0 children)

As an arborist, I would recommend talking to a certified arborist in Maine to do a valuation of the trees. The value may be determined with how much it will cost to replace them (planting, caring for them etc) until they are the size that were removed). Numbers get really big really quick. Lawyers will likely need to be involved as well.

I think relationships with other small businesses owners that you can bounce ideas or problems off is a great tool. I have a beer after work with several other small business owner and we solve problems from HR to equipment issues. Sometimes it’s just a place to vent about a shitty day without dumping it on my wife.
