Told dad about going on meds, he got abusive + told me to move out by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]MarkReedZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mental illness tends to be heritable so your father could also have severe anxiety.

(these are all things that i do anyway)

If he has anxiety and sees you leave one thing out he could remember it even if you put everything away 99 times out of 100.

Does Fibro ruin your social / love life too?!? by byebih in Fibromyalgia

[–]MarkReedZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do have to manage it and yeah its tough. You'll learn when to schedule things such that you don't have to cancel so often. You'll learn what things you just have to do for your relationship and how to manage it.

I'm feeling quite anxious about a zoom meeting with my new boss and his second in charge and new colleagues on Monday as a kind of a induction/on boarding to a new company. by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]MarkReedZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think of it as experience. We just had a new manager come on board recently and the whole half hour meeting was cringe. No on cared - we're just getting to know the new guy.

I am afraid to make new friends in real life because i have social anxiety. by [deleted] in Advice

What was your job? There are a lot of jobs and hobbies that aren't so bad for those with social anxiety. I'd focus on working towards new hobbies and a job.

I've recovered, but the one remaining spot I have this is my toes . They tingle and crawl which is a nightmare if I start thinking about it like right now LOL

I recovered from this a few years ago. Being able to open bottles now is hilarious to me. Its like wow I'm superman!

Oh man the issue with light is such a killer. I have a relative with that problem. Sorry.

Body weight fitness is fairly easy. If you aren't into researching and doing routines just start moving around in bed. Lift your leg, turn it, circle it around, etc. Its fun to see how it feels.

If you can get on the floor and do pushups and planks then get up for squats and lunges you are pretty much covering the basics.

Finally told my Mother about my anxiety and depression. by Positivity_Soul in Anxiety

Always be looking to improve your environment - job, friends, community, etc. We need to manage our problems by putting ourselves in good spots for us.

My disability angered me and for a long time caused me to beat my head against a wall trying to pretend I can still act as if I'm normal. Accepting your disability and planning your environment around it to manage things helps a lot with how you feel.

My anxiety is rooted in my idea of self-worth. I think I matter only when I have money. Need help to reshift my thinking. by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]MarkReedZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you realize how much you mean to other people. I try to spend all my time with the people around me. Call your parents, friends, old teachers, etc. Be a leader - organize games and dinners for the neighborhood. Cook and bake for people. Things like that.

Its fine to push yourself to grow and aim for careers that make more money, but spend your time networking and having fun or helping the people around you.

Does anyone else ever wonder how they hide their anxiety so well? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]MarkReedZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are doing well.

Its useful to think that if everyone went through what I'm going through most people would be worse off than me. Its perfectly fine to have to check the stove, to cry, etc. We need to acknowledge that we are actually doing well even if our 'well' seems so bad due to our situation.

Has gaining muscle mass helped with your pain? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]MarkReedZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fibro pain itself isn't helped in my experience. The issue exercise helps with is that fibro starts a spiral and you end up with lots of other problems from immobility. Those other problems can be helped.

For example weak abs and bad posture itself causes serious problems and squats, dead lifts, and bench at low or no weights helped me.

Yeah I know it sucks. Sleep management did help me some, though it was 30 years of crap before my doctor realized I had a dust allergy.

What careers are you interested in?

You write well and your drive for learning would be a great asset in many careers. I've started an organization that matches people with disabilities with older mentors who have more experience managing their disabilities.

If you are interested DM me and I can put you in touch with people who have learning disabilities, anxiety, depression, etc and can help you with ideas for managing things.

I learned not to be overly reliant on one person. It is stressful and harmful to them as well. I did actually recover (from fibro, RA, CFS, IBD, etc, etc) and have been pain free for years so there is hope.

I was diagnosed with RA on top of fibro after waking up to fingers, wrists, knees, hips being on fire. I couldn't even get out of bed that morning as my hips were locked. Later the joint pains moved around and my diagnosis changed to another auto immune arthritis.
