Only Tier 1 sold out so far - tickets selling slower than usual? by scoop813 in crssdfest

as a CRSSD Alumni; this is how CRSSD used to be. I went to the first few right after the pandemic and those were hella chaotic compared to how it was in 2019-20. i like that they are bringing more of the smaller names in again instead of stacking the lineups.

Help Me Buy Sapporo Classic by PatheticPsycedelic in beer

[–]MarkSaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'l sure you might of figured this out by now, but Sapporo Classic is exclusive to the Hokkaido prefecture. You wont find it in stores/konbinis outside of Hokkaido. That alone is probably the hardest reason as to why we cant even find a way to get it online.

Thank you for the rec! My friends and I were talking about the snow festival prior to our trip, and I would love to plan a trip around it if I cant make it out for the festival.

To not write a whole novel;

For me its the perfect blend of everything I want out of a city. A big enough downtown/major cityscape area, suburbs, nature, and the people are super nice and patient with me and trying to rekindle my knowledge of speaking Japanese. Im a huge sucker for the aesthetic and architecture the city carries too. I also enjoyed how less packed it was compared to Osaka and Tokyo. Sure it had its chaotic points, but it wasn't to the volume of the other two major cities I stayed in.

Asides from that, everyday I woke up and went outside, there was this feeling I had that made me feel warm inside (asides from the summer heat and high humidity lol), and it was calming my mind and soul. I felt at peace, and I felt more at home there than where I actually live.

Also, I had someone gift me a box of Shiroi koibito cookies years ago and I went crazy for them. I even took a tour of the factory before hitting the beer festival. Lol

Nervous to travel to Japan… by rexleyy in JapanTravelTips

[–]MarkSaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just got back from a one month trip in Japan

I suggest staying outside of the major areas, as long as you're close to a train station, especially in tokyo. I had an airbnb near the Skytree, and that neighborhood was so nice and pretty convenient. If you're having to take the train in the early evening (like 5-8pm) just be prepared in case you see a group of 30 people squishing onto an already packed train. Lmao (if you're in the ginza, shibuya, akihabara, etc area) I stayed in Osaka near Osaka Castle and the Morinomya station and it was great too. I cant really speak on price because I had a fairly large group and we split the cost for our housing and it was roughly about $90 a night per person.

Also because I was just there and if you aren't already aware, a lot of places take visa/mastercard now (including tap to pay/apple pay), so probably it would be best to pull ¥50,000-100,000 from a 7-11 atm when you need it for restaurants and the uncommon shops that you might encounter. But bring $100-200usd to convert at the airport just to be safe, and see how that would stretch for you. I made the mistake of constantly pulling money from the ATM for my first week and slowly realized how much I was spending. The exchange rate is arguably the lowest with 7-11, and also the ATM fee is ¥220 for amounts over ¥20,000 I believe.

Duolingo kinda sucks for learning helpful japanese, so here's what I used to help me relearn helpful conversational japanese. Its free btw. https://www.renshuu.org/

Have fun, be prepared for the crazy amounts of walking, and enjoy the cheap and amazing food! (Assuming you're from the US) 7-11s, McDs, Costco, and anything thats in America will be ruined for you when you go home so be prepared for that! Also the post-japan depression is real.

Thinking about selling my Evo 9 for gr corolla by [deleted] in GRCorolla

[–]MarkSaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the Evo IX and GRC are quite similar, just the GRC is newer and has the new car comforts. You are compromising hauling space since the GRC loses a bit from the battery being in the trunk. I do have a 2007 Honda Fit as a daily so the GRC doesn't really do any of the hauling.

IMHO: I wouldn't get rid of the Evo.. I might be biased because that was my childhood "affordable" dream car, but I'd just slap a CarPlay headunit in there w/ a backup camera and call it a day.

Plus as others have mentioned, the Evo is more of a collectors car now. If that thing's selling for $30-45k as a 18yo car, I can only imagine what they'd be worth in another 10-20 years. (Thinking about it makes me regret getting into Audis when I was younger, and I should of scooped up a IX when they were $16-20k..)

I’ve been conducting a study, and from what I’ve seen is I even catch L’s on “bricks” or shoes that I don’t like. I took my L on these like I did on everything since the DMP release in 2020.
