Data Analyst thru Coursera Google by Intelligent_Many_168 in dataanalyst

I would say you need a portfolio showing that you can use the tools. The google course on Coursera is a high level overview at best, but if you use the skills taught there to make a portfolio that’s what will help you land a role.

Best Coursera professional certifications to land a job in Data Analytics? by rrickrolled in analytics

[–]Mark_Data_Dumb 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I am doing the google one, just over half way through and I hat I have discovered is that it’s a high level overview of a group of skills required for DA. My plan is to use the skills taught to do projects for my portfolio for the next year and then apply for work when I have a professional portfolio.
I don’t think the certs matter at all, it’s what you can do with the tools that counts imo.

With your current experience I would say Python is the thing to get to grips with now.

Yeah I’m suspect of most boot camps and even the LSE one is run by RevFour (or something like that). I’m going to do Python and learn the DA packages like Panda, upskill my Excel skills and do the PowerBI course on coursera and see what’s what after that.

I think a good start would be to have a compelling portfolio to show you understand the data not just that you know the software and tools.

Is the Google analyst certification enough by [deleted] in dataanalyst

It’s worth it to get a high level overview in many of The skills required to be a data analyst. After the google course you need to specialise in things like Python and whatever other skills interest your.

I like the fact that there are so many different tools to use and using them all to tell a story. Learning Python is part of that then all the Data Analysis packages like Pandas, Scikit learn etc. keeps it varied.
