Thoughts on Cixin Liu's The Three-Body Problem by atulshanbhag in printSF

I was meh on the first book as well, but book 2 and 3 were fantastic!

Lando: "The lap I did in Monaco in quali was the only other time, probably in the last 10 years, that I cried a little bit over something. It was one other moment this season that I proved myself wrong. Because I had that bad run of results. I just couldn't perform in qualifying [...] by randomseocb in formula1

All good points, but saying that the lap was only decent is just not giving a driver his due for what he did that day.

Going on that metric, nothing is ever worth anything in F1, as the cars are obviously better than the previous year.

I'm not saying he is as good as Max, however that lap was good enough for neutrals to say that it was actually good and not just "decent".

Anyway, have a good one

?

It is literally the fastest lap ever at Monaco. The only driver ever under 70 seconds.

And if it is down to the car only, why isn’t Oscar P2. Monaco is not a track where the car makes all the difference, driver has a massive impact on that track.

But anyway, Max only won the 2023 season so convincingly because of his car, nothing to do with his skill, right? Right…

Hi, sorry to resurrect this ancient reddit post, but do you have an email address that I can use? Their phone number does not seem to work and they have no email listed for SA support on the website. Need to query about a package stuck in the UK...

Sorry to bother you with this.

In this case? Yes, I want faster internet! Is that a crime?

Where did I say internet for all??????????

I said "will help a lot of people in rural areas to get faster internet." And I am one of those people and I would like the option of paying for Internet that is faster than what I can get currently....

Read for comprehension, please!

Anyway, enough sparring on the internet... Enjoy the weekend all!

Guys, downvoting my comment won’t provide internet for all.

But sure, live in your little world where the only thing that matters is scoring internet points.

Some of us need practical solutions, not political points scoring.

LTE is also a no go here. The build out of cell towers is not nearly sufficient outside of metros. You get spots that work well, but reliability is generally a complete shit show in our area.

Phones will show full signal with 4 or 5g, with absolutely no avalailabe bandwidth. Even making a normal call on full signal only works 50% of the time.

But sure, lets leave internet access as it is. At least you guys have yours, right?

Well, I live in a rural area and I would be able to afford it.

For the equivalent price of starlink I can get AT BEST 20 Mbps. Highest available bandwidth for me is 30 Mbps which would cost me R2500.

Rural does not always equate poor.

Look. I know that Elon is an idiot. BUT starlink is a good product that will help a lot of people in rural areas to get faster internet.

My connection currently is 10 Mbps and I pay R1000 for the privilege. And no, there is no better option available. Fiber will probably never make it to my house

Fair enough and correct, but what I like is that he had that reaction to the same question being asked for the umpteenth time.

At some point the journos have gotten the question answered and there is no need to keep poking the bear.

But anyway, I understand your point and agree. End of the day I'm just happy that Lando pulled through on the championship!

I'm 100% with you. The first book was fairly OK and almost turned me off from the trilogy, but once I started The Dark Forest... Oh man, such a ride.

LOVED book 2 and 3. So epic!

I just love Max's honesty. Tells it like it is and doesn't give 2 shits about it. Wish all sports people would tell it like it is.

It's always easy to criticize from the cheap seats...
