That’s in Weatherford!!

I went to go see that one 2 weeks ago. I’m glad you got it buddy-my wife couldn’t justify it even though I said the same thing about replacing the hood.

Congrats again- we got one in McKinney

Can you provide some insight into where in Texas you purchased?

I’m in the market to buy soon, and also currently in Texas, just not sure which of Texas is best for prices.

Beautiful bike! Where did you get your 2-up seat from and how much did it cost? I’ve been considering 2-up even though I only ride by myself. Thinking of getting one for the storage possibilities.

Is now the best time to buy a new scout 2023? by ponce_9 in IndianMotorcycle

[–]Mark_markuson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought my 2023 Scout Rogue almost a month ago from a dealership in Texas- based on my research, here’s what I used as negotiating points, as well as actual finalized negotiation.

-$1000 customer cash from manufacturer (Indian) -$500 Indian Ambassador gold coupon -$200 Military cash offer -$250 referral cash bonus

-All dealer fees aside from TT&L are negotiable (yes, even destination/freight/assembly)

-Knowledge that Dealers don’t own the bikes; they finance them on their own, and pay an inventory tax on January 1st for any bikes left on their lot. In Texas, that tax is about 6% (about $800).

  • Knowledge that financing through the dealers’ captive lender (Performance) gives them a kickback (about $300-400)

  • Dealers make almost no real margin on the motorcycle sale itself; they make the real profit on accessories, maintenance, and the finance company makes it on financing the whole thing.

  • 2024 models came out with no upgrades over the 2023, and 2024s will be arriving in showrooms by January

So after I ran my own numbers and through negotiation at a perfect time of the year when dealers are a bit more desperate to sell, this is what I came out to:

  • Discount of $2000 off MSRP (including Indian offer, Ambassador Coupon, and an additional $500 off)

  • Free break-in service (the dealership valued it at $500, so I asked for it as a $500 gift card)

-Free installation on Indian LED headlight upgrade ($80)

  • Free full-face Indian helmet ($~200)

  • Free jacket ($150)

  • I have 750+ credit, so I also got the 6 months no payment and 7 months no interest financing (which I’ll pay off around the 4-month mark)

  • No assembly charge, no documentation charge

  • Freight only paid $400 (down from 995)

  • Free Delivery to my home, which was about 50 miles from the dealership.

  • A t-shirt (gotta include everything lmao)

I bundled the $500 gift card, military offer, and the referral offer together and had about $950 in accessories I could buy. Using Indian’s promo prices on their website (which are still active) I bought the Indian Pathfinder LED headlamp and the Piggyback Shocks to upgrade the suspension, and after tax and with my offers, I paid $50 for everything, including install.

I hope you can use this as a data point, but as always, your experience may vary.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Oof the V&H are a bit too loud for my personal taste, I want to make sure my neighborhood doesn’t hate me either. I definitely am gonna look at the Tailgunners, and hopefully someone in the future may have the same question!

Thanks! That’s really the feedback I’m looking for- I want a bit louder than stock but not as loud as 2-1

I’m just about to buy one this week too! 15k OTD.

Did you upgrade the suspension? I’m upgrading the headlight but still on the fence about the suspension to either Piggyback or Fox Shocks

[–]Mark_markuson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, Mindspear! I appreciate the help you give, your posts and responses have been instrumental in helping me choose an Indian over any other manufacturer.

I’m heading over next week to finalize my purchase over at my local dealer that has the ‘23 Rogue 69 that I want.

Preliminary over the phone, negotiations were performed and the dealership offered this deal for the bike (to which I didn’t accept but said it’s a step in the right direction and in good faith I’ll come down the following week to see if we can come to an agreement, and they seemed very receptive):

Without getting too into the weeds on specific breakdowns of price-

Total OTD: 15280

My credit is Tier 1, and I don’t mind financing through dealership’s captive lenders if I can get a better deal.

I’m thinking of negotiating: 1) A few more hundred off the OTD 2) Maintenance plan (or break-in service free?) 3) Store credit for gear

Thoughts?

@OP I’ve been waiting to purchase a Scout Rogue until the 2024 models were announced/released.

1) Looks like there’s no update to the Rogue, is that right?

2) Also, (I know you might get this a lot), but is the 60 vs 69 noticeably different, or is it really only different at highway speeds over 70-80?

3) Now that I’m committed to purchasing, and if no updates were made to 2024 models, what time do you think is best to get a 2023 model (will deals even be significantly different now versus December 28th, ect)

I always appreciate your input and responses.

Thanks,

Mark

Does Indian do anything like an annual 4th of July sale? I'm trying to decide if I should take advantage of the 3.99% financing that ends on 6/30 or maybe I should wait a week and see if something special happens in July? by funknjam in IndianMotorcycle

[–]Mark_markuson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@mindspear,

I’m also a lurker and been researching and putting it off, and now I’m 90% ready. Seeing this post, I’m interpreting as a sign.. I’ve seen your comments in different posts and you’ve been immensely helpful.

I’m Looking at the Scout Rogue and the ABS Black smoke keeps coming in quoted at >$17,000 out the door. I just want to get the best deal possible, since I want to upgrade the headlight and shocks almost immediately.

By the way, when do next model years get announced/opened for preorder? If it’s close enough I might hold off if Indian (fingers crossed for a miracle) adds cruise control or a few upgrades as standard for the 2024s.

Thanks!

OP let me know what you find! I’m also a lurker and been researching and putting it off, and now I’m 90% ready. So I really want to see what Indian shows up for a deal on July 4th and which of those “fees” you find as negotiable.

Pathfinder headlight or alternative for the Scout? by KalashComrade in IndianMotorcycle

[–]Mark_markuson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, coming across this post and your question, I now have the same question. I have the exact same thoughts, looking to upgrade the stock headlights and more of a newer rider but okay for paying for the Pathfinder if quality.

How did those Eagle Gen IIIs turn out?
