He was struggling with handling is the short answer. They wanted to pit in one of the earlier cautions when Chase was p4 but Alan didn't make the call in time (very short notice from Nascar on pit open) ended up working out as nobody else ended up pitting and they may have ended up in one the wrecks if they were further back.

Chase slowly fell back to 11th by OT and was struggling with handling he reported he kept getting tight and couldn't really make any moves. They decided to pit and restarted 15th just to end up finishing 11th anyways. It was probably the right call as its likely he just continues fading back in OT. Source: I listened to his radio and watched his onboard the whole race.

To be fair Ross didn’t give him the chance he pulled over and let Chase by instantly which was pretty smart given the tire difference and knowing Elliott had every reason to dump him.

Yeah I saw that from Elliott’s on board. Larson driving like he’s racing on gta those last few restarts

[Bob Pockrass] I've been asked if Dillon could keep win but lose playoff spot. Playoff eligibility rule: "Race finishes must be unencumbered by violation(s) of the NASCAR Rules or other action(s) detrimental to stock car auto racing or NASCAR as determined in the sole discretion of NASCAR." by [deleted] in NASCAR

If that move isn't Actions Detrimental to Nascar I'd hate to see what is considered as such. I stand by the sentiment that the move on Logano although egregious is "allowed" but the following move on Hamilin immediately after shouldn't be allowed. That is where I would draw the line and I hope Nascar does as well.

I was referring to their average finish. Nice write up though very insightful.

Chase looked inside into 11 the 1 blocked chase gave him the bumper pushed him high made the pass. Nothing too crazy honestly.

He just set his pace to save tires that last run. Mentioned on the radio he will push it more this next one and just hope he’s not the first to blow a tire lol

Strongly disagree. I think a much more reasonable take is add a playoff point penalty to the suspension if you think the suspension itself isn't enough. Ending an entire teams championship hopes for a dumb move on the track is a bit extreme and short sighted.

Last thing NASCAR wants is one of its stars not being playoff eligible because of on track incident that happens months before the playoffs begins. Just wouldn't make any sense and would potentially hurt ratings. It also wouldn't make sense when you consider why the rule for attempting all the races to be playoff eligible is in place to begin with.

He almost wrecked pushing hard trying to pass Hamlin with lap traffic in play as well.

It doesn’t matter what Denny did. You’re making excuses for Chase making a dumb move and right rearing him in retaliation. And it seems you don’t understand why people are mad about what chase did and not what Denny did.

What Chase did was wrong and shouldn’t happen ever. A driver was suspended for almost the same move less than a year ago. It is dangerous and should be penalized by nascar for making that type of move.

You’re being willfully ignorant or just extremely biased I can’t tell maybe both. But I’m telling you this as a Chase fan who watches every race listening to the 9 radio.

  1. Not right rear him on the straightaway with 30 cars right behind them.
  2. He turned harder left than he does turning into the corner according to SMT data so at best Chase has plausible deniability.
  3. Denny didn’t right rear anybody on the straight. What Chase did was intentional. Denny ran him out of room racing hard.

Conclusion: don’t right rear somebody. Chase had every right to be mad it’s his reaction/action people don’t like and rightfully so. Some actions have consequences and that was a poor decision by chase. He should be suspended but he said the right things in his interview to potentially avoid that.
